Maruti Suzuki Ciaz recalled for inspection

Maruti launched the Ciaz earlier this year, and it even went on to outsell its biggest competitor, the Honda City in the month of October. However, now, Maruti Suzuki is recalling 3,796 units of the Ciaz sedan to inspect a suspected fault with a part of the clutch.

 

Maruti suspects a problem with the clutch operation system of the Ciaz with manual transmission for both, the petrol and diesel engines, and the manufacturer is going to replace the relevant part free of cost. The carmaker has said that cars made till November 7, 2014 may have this problem, and will set up a service campaign to resolve the issue. 

 

Maruti has set up a section on its website to help customers ascertain whether their car falls under the category that requires attention, by filling in the chassis number in the provided box. Alternatively, customers with manual transmission Ciaz sedans may also approach their nearest dealership to ascertain if their car is among those impacted.

 

This recall comes close on the heels of Toyota and Ford recalling cars with issues with their air-intake and glow plug control systems, respectively. Since July 2012, over seven lakh vehicles have been recalled by manufacturers including Maruti Suzuki, Mahindra & Mahindra, Toyota, Ford, Honda and General Motors after Society of Indian Automobile Manufacturers started a voluntary recall for safety related issues.
