Mercedes C-class L production started in China

Mercedes has started production of the C-class L in China. First of the long wheelbase C-Class cars has rolled off the assembly line in Beijing Benz Automotive Co Ltd (BBAC) in China.

“Now we are taking the next step: designed and developed for China, produced exclusively in China, our all-new long-wheelbase C-Class is destined to become one of our top growth drivers here,” said Hubertus Troska, member of the Board of Management of Daimler AG.

The C-Class L is 4766mm long and has a wheelbase that has been stretched by 80mm. The car has also been equipped with a new front passenger seat that can be adjusted by rear seat passengers. Built specifically for China the car gets assistant systems that includes a semi-autonomous pilot mode and a touchpad that allows for operations of the functions through Chinese handwriting.

No further details on the C-class L have been revealed by Mercedes.
