At a recent event in China, BMW showcased a first ever glimpse of some exploratory design sketches of a future compact car, that could preview the upcoming front wheel drive compact lineup.

The images preview a possible new entry level model which could be named as 0 (zero) series and may feature  a front wheel drive system to compete with the growing premium B-segment, the likes of the new Audi A1 and the new Lexus CT-200h compact.

The images display three different proposals for the front end which share an elongated kidney grille and aggressive styling with distinctive sculpted surfaces which are currently seen in the brand’s design language. Like its Audi and Lexus counterparts, this model is likely to feature a hybrid technology along with BMW’s Efficient Dynamics Diesel, which currently are the best around.
