The upcoming BMW iX4 has been spied testing in Germany ahead of its expected debut later this year. As the name suggests, the iX4 will be the coupe SUV counterpart to the BMW iX3, which debuted in 2025. Moreover, the iX4 is likely to preview the fourth generation of the X4, and will also be the first version of the coupe SUV to offer an electric powertrain.
BMW iX4 exterior design
As our exclusive spy shots indicate, the iX4’s major visual differentiator from the iX3 will be its sharply raked roofline, lending it a sportier appearance. Like the iX3, the iX4 will feature BMW’s Neue Klasse design language. Up front, it’s expected to get a sleek black panel housing the LED headlamps, along with diagonal DRLs.
The front bumper looks very similar to that of the iX3, and so do the wide LED tail-lamps. However, the iX4 is likely to come with different alloy wheels, as well as a bootlid spoiler.
BMW iX4 interior
Expect the iX4 to be identical to the iX3 in terms of dashboard layout, which means the coupe SUV may sport a rhomboidal 17.9-inch infotainment touchscreen, a 4-spoke steering wheel, and a pillar-to-pillar Panoramic Vision display. BMW could offer unique interior colour schemes and upholstery options for the iX4 as well.
BMW iX4 battery and range
The iX4 is anticipated to use the same 800V architecture and 108.7kWh battery pack as that of the iX3. In the iX3, you get dual motors that output 469hp and 645Nm, a WLTP range of up to 805km, and DC charging speeds of up to 400kW (10-80 percent in 21 minutes). Expect the iX4’s powertrain specs to be very similar.
