The BMW plant in Chennai has reached a milestone by rolling out 25,000 assembled-in-India cars. With 9,371 cars delivered to customers in the calendar year 2011, and 4,457 units delivered so far in 2012, BMW has further strengthened its position at the top of the luxury car segment in terms of sales.

Juergen Eder, managing director, BMW plant Chennai, said, “It is with great excitement that the BMW plant Chennai rolls out the 25,000th car assembled in India. The BMW group India is the leader in the luxury car segment and, with the increasing demand for BMW cars, BMW’s Chennai plant will play an important role in ensuring the company’s long-term success. It has taken us less than six years to achieve this milestone and I would like to congratulate the team at the BMW Chennai plant for contributing to the continuous growth in production with the highest quality standards.”

BMW India currently has 25 dealerships across the country. The company claims that it will aggressively expand its dealer network by increasing the number of outlets to 40 across major metropolitan centres and emerging markets in India by the end of 2012.
