Audi is working on a new generation A4, one of its most successful models, the company revealed during the celebrations of the A4’s 20th anniversary.

Although no details were revealed from the Ingolstadt plant, the only confirmation is that the next-gen Audi A4 will be launched in 2015. The company declined to comment but said, “Numerous construction changes and other modernizations are necessary for the new model. In the new body shop in the northern part of the plant site, for example, more than 1,300 machines such as robots and welding guns are being installed”.

Over the last twenty years, Audi has sold over six million A4s, including over 2 million units of the current generation car. Audi has said that demand is particularly strong in China, the US and Germany, where every fifth car sold is an A4. According to Audi Production Board Member Dr. Hubert Waltl, "It was the fastest production ramp up in the company’s history."
