Audi has revealed a unique six-door version of its flagship long-wheelbase A8 limousine. The model, called the A8 L extended, measures 6.36 metres long and has a wheelbase of 4.22 metres – about a metre longer than the standard A8 L – and has three rows with six individual seats, all facing forward.

The carmaker has used an aluminium spaceframe body to keep the weight low (2,418kg) and extruded aluminium sections to increase the car’s length. To keep torsional and flexural rigidity on par with the standard car, the A8 L extended uses aluminium cross-braces and profiled tubes in the roof.

Furthermore, the roof also features a 2.4 metre glass panel to make the interior feel more spacious.
The interior of the car is finished in Valcona leather. Of the three rows, the second and third get powered seat adjust, while the last row gets an entertainment display and a cool box.

Powering the big limousine is a 3.0-litre TFSI petrol engine that develops 310hp and 440Nm of torque that's paired with an eight-speed automatic gearbox and Audi’s Quattro all-wheel drive system. The carmaker has stated that the car is capable of sprinting from 0-100kph in 7.2 seconds and can achieve a top speed of 250kph.

The one-off A8 L extended, according to Audi, has been developed at the special request of a customer, but the person’s identity remains undisclosed.
