The Mercedes-Benz A 45 AMG sold overseas will get a facelift later this year. The AMG-version of the Mercedes-Benz A-class hatchback is also the smallest of the AMG models. While India gets the A-class hatchback, the A 45 AMG is not available here.

When Audi announced the new RS3 in the international markets in December last year, it snatched the title of the manufacturer of the world’s most powerful compact hatchback from Mercedes-Benz. The new Audi RS3 can make 362bhp from its 2.5-litre, five-cylinder turbo motor, pipping the 355bhp of the current A45 AMG’s 2.0-litre motor. The Indian market will be familiar with the 2.0-litre engine, as it also does duty in the CLA 45 AMG and the GLA 45 AMG.

However, AMG boss Tobias Moers has told our sister publication, Autocar UK, that when the refreshed A 45 arrives, "it will be the most powerful again". It is believed that AMG plans a significant power upgrade, to perhaps as much as 375bhp.
