Higher costs of raw materials, parts and manufacturing, along with supply chain issues and currency fluctuations, have made it harder for carmakers to manage costs. Car price hikes around the start of a new financial year are quite common. Both Mercedes-Benz and BMW have also announced a steeper 2 percent price hike, effective April 1.
