Skoda will replace the Yeti crossover with an all-new model called Karoq. Unofficial news about the new name of Yeti replacement had surfaced online a few days ago.

The carmaker has also announced that the new model will see a global premier on May 18, 2017. Near-production test mules have been spotted at multiple instances across Europe. A first set of teasers have also been released.

The second-gen Yeti or the Karoq’s design is completely different from the outgoing model and more in line with the brand’s larger SUV, the Kodiaq. As reported earlier, the new Karoq will come with a 2,600mm wheelbase, up from 2,578mm of the previous model. The Karoq will be built on the Volkswagen Group’s MQB platform, which also underpins models, including the Audi Q3 , Seat Ateca and the Volkswagen Tiguan, and may borrow autonomous driving technology from the Kodiaq.

Going by the SUV’s exterior design, it will have an interior similar to the Kodiaq ; expect the new five-seater to have touchscreen infotainment in its centre console with a simple design for the air conditioning controls beneath.

There are no details on the engine as of now but it is safe to expect the new Skoda SUV to feature similar engines as seen under the hoods of the current-gen Volkswagen Tiguan and the Seat Ateca SUVs.
