The second update for the 3-door SUV could feature C-shaped DRLs, a six-slot grille, and more.

Mahindra rolled out the first major update for the current-generation Thar in October 2025, bringing subtle exterior tweaks and a few feature upgrades. At the time, the 3-door SUV was expected to pick up design cues from the Thar Roxx, positioned a rung above, but that didn’t happen. However, a recently spotted test mule wearing partial camouflage now hints that these updates could arrive with another refresh for the Mahindra Thar; the launch timeline is unclear at the moment.

  1. New grille, alloy wheels and LED headlights expected
  2. Changes under the hood unlikely

For context, the last update to the Thar added a body-colour finish to the seven-slot grille, a dual-tone front bumper, a rear wiper and a rearview camera integrated into the spare wheel. The latest spy shots, however, suggest more noticeable changes, including LED projector headlights with C-shaped daytime running lamps (DRLs), a double-stacked six-slot grille and new diamond-cut alloy wheels, likely 19-inch.

Interior changes aren’t visible, but additions such as front ventilated seats, an auto-dimming interior rearview mirror (IRVM), power-folding outside rearview mirrors (ORVMs), push-button start and a wireless charger are expected.

The updated Thar may carry over the current model’s engine options, including the 152hp 2-litre turbo-petrol, 119hp 1.5-litre diesel and 132hp 2.2-litre diesel, along with their respective gearbox options. Four-wheel drive is likely to remain optional with the petrol engine while being offered as standard on the more powerful diesel.
