Mercedes-Benz GLS facelift design and exterior

The biggest talking point when compared to the model that it replaces is the design of the grille. The facelift gets four horizontal chrome strips instead of two, a new daytime running lamp (DRL) signature, a new block pattern signature on the rear tail-lights and a restyled front bumper.

The GLS facelift is available with 21-inch alloy wheels and five colour options to choose from – Obsidian Black, High-tech Silver, Sodalite Blue, Selenite Grey and Polar White.

Mercedes-Benz GLS facelift interior and features

The GLS facelift is available with a choice of three interior upholstery choices, black, beige and brown, all finished in faux leather. The facelift comes with a new steering wheel, that houses haptic feedback buttons, and it also gets the latest MBUX system that offers more usability and even off-road screens.

At 5.2 metres long and 1.96 metres wide, the GLS is a large vehicle which is where the new 360-deg camera will come in handy while negotiating tight spaces. The luxury SUV rides on adjustable air suspension and is also equipped with ADAS functions.

Since the GLS is a luxury offering, it comes with features such as heated and cooled seats, wireless charging and there's also a 'Rear Seat Comfort' package offered as standard that raises the luxury quotient for the rear passengers. It features head restraints, controls of the front seat to increase space, electric sunblinds, two 11.6-inch entertainment screens and an additional tablet to control these features.

Mercedes-Benz GLS facelift engine and powertrain

The Mercedes-Benz GLS facelift gets a choice of two powertrains: a 3.0-litre, 6-cyl petrol that makes 381hp and 500Nm, and a 3.0-litre 6-cyl diesel engine that makes 367hp and 700Nm. Both cars are coupled to a mild-hybrid system and the hybrid system’s integrated starter generator (ISG) offers an additional 20hp of boost and 200Nm of torque. The GLS utilises a 9-speed automatic gearbox to send power to all four wheels and even has a water-wading depth of 500 mm.

Mercedes-Benz GLS facelift rivals

The facelifted Mercedes-Benz GLS rivals other 7-seater luxury SUVs like the BMW X7 (Rs 1.27 crore), Volvo XC90 (Rs 98.85 lakh) and the Land Rover Discovery (Rs 95.65 lakh).
