Maruti Ertiga facelift, XL6: New 115hp 1.5-litre DualJet engine

Both models will be the first recipients of the new 1.5-litre K15C dualjet engine; this motor will replace the K15B engine and is expected to see duty in more Maruti models in future. The new K15C 1.5-litre petrol delivers 115hp, which is 10hp more than the outgoing powerplant. A five-speed manual will be the standard transmission on offer, and sources tell us that a six-speed torque convertor automatic will be offered as an option.

The new K15C DualJet engine made its debut overseas on the Vitara SUV. However, for the Vitara, this engine is mated to a hybrid motor that is good for 33hp. For India, the 1.5-litre DualJet will not get a hybrid option but will come with integrated starter generator and auto-start stop system, which is seen on the Celerio and the Baleno, among other Dualjet tech-equipped models from Maruti Suzuki.

Both models will get minor cosmetic tweaks to continue to make them look fresh. The XL6 will get larger alloy wheels, similar to the ones available on the model sold in Indonesia. On the inside, there are talks of a larger touchscreen and a few other cosmetic updates and a few safety-related add-ons.

Bookings for both models are open at the respective Arena and Nexa dealerships and deliveries are expected to start by end of April or early May, depending on location and stock availability.
