Kia has introduced a battery-as-a-rental (BaaS) scheme for the Carens Clavis EV in India, making it the manufacturer’s first EV to be offered with a battery rental scheme. While the Carens Clavis EV is offered with the same battery pack options, Kia is asking for a rental fee of Rs 3.3 per km for both batteries.
- Battery and chassis are being offered with separate loan accounts
- Prices of the Carens Clavis EV, including the battery pack, are unchanged
2026 Kia Carens Clavis EV: BaaS scheme explained
Separate loan accounts to be maintained for chassis and battery
Kia has announced that with the Carens Clavis EV, separate loan accounts will be created for the chassis and battery. While the chassis loan will be repaid like a standard loan, Kia will be charging Rs 3.3 per km as the battery rental fees. The loan tenure for the chassis would be up to 60 months (5 years), while the battery can be rented for up to 96 months (8 years).
Earlier in March 2026, Kia launched the 2026 model year update for the Carens Clavis EV, equipping it with new bumpers, fresh alloy wheels and new variants. Now, apart from the new battery rental scheme, nothing has changed for the Carens Clavis EV.
The Carens Clavis EV is offered with a 42kWh or a 51.4kWh battery pack option with claimed ranges of 404km and 490km, respectively. The 42kWh versions are priced from Rs 17.99 lakh to Rs 17.99 lakh to Rs 20.49 lakh, while the 51.4kWh battery versions are priced from 21.99 lakh to 24.99 lakh.
Prices are ex-showroom, India.
