Jeep India has issued an official recall for its popular Compass SUV. The recall applies to diesel two wheel drive Compass’ manufactured between December 18, 2017, to November 18, 2018. The recall has been announced to update the vehicles' PCM (Powertrain Control Module) software.

In a release, FCA India announced, "This action is to correct product variations that may cause certain vehicles to exceed the regulatory threshold for particulate matter emissions." Jeep also clarified the recall is not a safety recall.

The recall has affected 11,002 Compass diesel 2WD models, and isn't applicable to the petrol or diesel 4WD models manufactured in the same period.

Owners of the affected vehicles will be contacted by Jeep India dealers to schedule an appointment to address the issue. Jeep says that the issue can be fixed with a software update that takes around 15 minutes.

Jeep India currently sells the Compass, Grand Cherokee and the Wrangler SUVs in India. The company will introduce the rugged Compass Trailhawk variant equipped with a diesel-automatic configuration and more off-road bits in the coming months.
