Kawasaki Ninja ZX-6R

The Kawasaki Ninja ZX-6R retains its aggressive supersport styling, with the only update being a new colour scheme. It continues to feel like a proper track-focused motorcycle, while maintaining the premium build quality expected from Kawasaki.

The ZX-6R has a committed riding position with low clip-ons and high-set footpegs, making long rides physically demanding. However, its Showa suspension is surprisingly compliant and absorbs road imperfections well. While ground clearance is limited, the bike handles rough roads better than expected, provided larger bumps and speed breakers are approached carefully.

The 636cc inline-four engine produces 124hp and 69Nm. It feels smooth and manageable at low speeds, with predictable throttle response and light low-speed manners that make city riding easier than expected. Performance builds progressively from 6,000rpm before delivering an exciting rush beyond 10,000rpm, accompanied by a thrilling four-cylinder exhaust note. The short gearing also improves usability in traffic, and the engine is now E20 compliant.

The aluminium frame, fully adjustable suspension and Pirelli Diablo Rosso 4 tyres give the ZX-6R excellent handling and confidence-inspiring grip, even on wet roads. The Nissin brakes offer strong stopping power, although the ABS can feel intrusive during hard braking.

The ZX-6R comes with three riding modes, two power modes, three traction control levels and a quickshifter. However, it misses an auto-blipper for clutchless downshifts, and the electronics package is relatively basic compared to modern superbikes.

The Kawasaki Ninja ZX-6R remains a unique supersport that combines thrilling high-rev performance with surprising road usability. It may not be the most practical motorcycle in its segment, but its engaging engine, sharp handling and emotional appeal make it a rewarding choice for enthusiasts.
