Yamaha Motor Co. will revamp the 530cc TMAX sports commuter, with the 2017 model to be launched in Europe in March 2017. The company is targeting sales of 15,000 units in the first year of sale. Since its launch in 2001, the TMAX has received a good response in Europe as a commuter model and has maintained its leading popularity in the market's large capacity scooter category.

Developed on the ‘Master of Scooter’ concept, the new TMAX is Yamaha Motor's first scooter to feature the Yamaha Chip Controlled Throttle (YCC-T) system and, along with other advancements such as the newly designed, lightweight body frame and improved styling, delivers greater performance, riding experience and comfort. YCC-T is a system in which an ECU instantly calculates the ideal throttle valve opening upon detecting accelerator inputs and operates the throttle valve via a servo motor to control the intake air volume.

The TMAX’s main features include adoption of electronic control technology such as YCC-T and Traction Control System (TCS); a new, sporty up-muffler contributing to greater torque; greater weight reduction and a new frame (total 9kg lighter than the current model) contributing to a sportier ride; and a link-type rear suspension that delivers a comfortable ride.

In addition to the standard specification, the SX which emphasises sporty riding, and the DX which features a cruise control system and electronically adjustable screen, etc. for superior comfort will be available. All three specifications feature ABS as standard.
