Ducati 899 Panigale unveiled at Frankfurt

Italian two wheeler major Ducati have been working on a smaller capacity Panigale for a while now and have finally unveiled this motorcycle at the 2014 Frankfurt Motor Show. The 899 Panigale will replace the successful 848 range of superbikes and will be available in two colour options, Ducati red with black wheels and white with red wheels. The 899 Panigale retains its larger capacity stable mate’s design philosophy and uses similar LED headlights, turn signal integrated rear-view mirrors and sharp angular body panels. The 899 will house an all-new Superquadro four-stroke, 899cc, V-twin engine which generates maximum power of 148bhp and peak torque of 10.1kgm. This 899cc Panigale will borrow a lot of tech from its elder sibling, including a quick shifter, riding modes, ride-by-wire throttle, triple stage ABS, traction control and engine brake control.

The 899 Panigale will retain a similar monocoque construction as the 1199 Panigale and tips the scales at 169kg. The 899 Panigale is slated to enter international markets by late October 2014 after which Indian enthusiasts can expect to see this bike in showrooms a few months down the line.
