Japanese motorcycle maker, Yamaha, has updated the Tracer 900, while adding a GT model to it. Other unveils include the MT-09 SP and XT1200ZE Super Ténéré Raid Edition for 2018. Also showcased is the impressive Ténéré 700 World Raid prototype motorcycle.

Ténéré 700 World Raid prototype
Yamaha showcased its Ténéré 700 World Raid prototype, which features a 689cc engine derived from the MT-07 naked. The bike features an Akrapovič exhaust, mounted to suit its rally-aspirant nature. The 43mm upside-down front fork and the Dakar Rally inspired four-projector headlamp gives the 700 a visually aggressive front end. Yamaha has announced its intentions to take the prototype around the world to test in different conditions before it becomes a production motorcycle.

2018 XT1200ZE Super Ténéré Raid Edition
This new edition of the XT1200ZE Super Ténéré takes inspiration from the Ténéré 700 World Raid prototype.  Updated for better off-road performance, the motorcycle uses a 1,199cc twin-cylinder motor and offers a range of rider assists, including traction control and cruise control. The motorcycle also features electronically adjustable suspension and combined braking. This edition of the motorcycle also comes standard with two 37-litre aluminium panniers, a wider skid plate, a taller screen, carbon side panels, wind deflectors and fog lamps. The motorcycle will go on sale internationally from March 2018.

Tracer 900 and Tracer 900 GT
For 2018, Yamaha has introduced the Tracer 900 GT, while also updating its Tracer 900. The new 2018 Tracer 900 comes with better wind protection, thanks to a larger, manually adjustable windscreen. The Tracer also gets a redesigned aluminium swingarm with a reworked rear shock. The rear foot pegs and grab rails have been redesigned as well. The new 900 GT features a TFT LCD instrument panel and body-coloured panniers as standard. Other standard equipment includes a Yamaha quickshifter system (QSS) and rear shock with remote preload adjuster. The GT also gets cruise control and heated grips.

MT-09 SP
The MT-09 is built using components from the bigger MT-10 SP. Aside from the Silver Blu Carbon paint scheme, it gets 10-spoke wheels, LED split-headlights, and a swingarm-mounted registration plate holder. Mechanical changes include a new front fork (tuned for better rebound and compression damping) and an Öhlins monoshock, fully adjustable and paired with a remote adjuster as well. Also new are the quickshifter and the slipper clutch, and a host of electronics like switchable traction control and D-Mode (Yamaha’s three-level riding mode feature). Click here to read more.
