Ever since the TVS Ntorq 125 broke onto the scene in 2018, it has been the benchmark for Indian-made sporty 125cc scooters for blending peppy performance with comfort and practicality. Now, TVS is looking to expand its sporty scooter line-up with the launch of the Ntorq 150, which is slated to be in showrooms by this year’s festive season.

  1. Ntorq 125 is a strong seller for TVS
  2. Ntorq 150 will rival Yamaha Aerox 155, Hero Xoom 160

TVS Ntorq 150: What to expect?

Ntorq 150 likely to have sporty styling and be loaded with features

Since the Indian scooter market has seen an influx of new 150cc models recently, TVS believes the time is right to throw its hat into the ring now. In the 150-160cc scooter segment, there are entrants with liquid-cooled engines, like the Yamaha Aerox 155 and Hero Xoom 160, and those with air-cooled engines, such as the Aprilia 160cc models

Currently, TVS doesn’t have a liquid-cooled engine below the 300cc displacement mark, and it remains to be seen if the company develops an all-new engine for the Ntorq 150 to take on the likes of the Yamaha Aerox and Hero Xoom 160. On the other hand, TVS could stick with an air-cooled engine, which won’t have as much performance but will be more cost-effective.

By virtue of its displacement, the Ntorq 150 will have at least single-channel ABS owing to government regulations. Expect TVS to play to its usual strengths of a vast feature list and high levels of build quality with its largest ICE scooter to date. TVS will carry forward the smaller Ntorq’s sporty styling to the bigger 150cc model, and it could potentially even run on 14-inch wheels at both ends, like the rival offerings from Hero, Yamaha, and Aprilia do.

Just like the upcoming entry-level electric scooter, the TVS Ntorq 150 will be launched close to the festive season. With the pricing of the other 150cc scooters in the market hovering around Rs 1.5 lakh, the Ntorq 150 will likely be positioned in that ballpark.
