MV Agusta has announced a three-month extension on warranties for all its motorcycles. The announcement was made in light of the COVID-19 pandemic that has led to countries worldwide enforcing nationwide lockdowns to contain the spread of the virus.

A press statement by MV Agusta says that lockdowns across the globe have prevented owners from riding their bikes; and in such times, warranty coverage has had very little use. This extension should also cover cases where warranties were set to lapse during the lockdown period, which will come as a relief to some owners.

As the world grapples with the novel coronavirus, Italy has been one of the worst-affected countries. MV Agusta, based in Varese, Italy, continued production, albeit with  a skeleton staff, in the initial phase of the COVID-19 outbreak in the country. However, an alarming rise in positive cases over the next couple of weeks forced the company to close operations.

Now that the spread has been curtailed to quite an extent, the Italian government has begun to relax the lockdown, allowing manufacturers (including MV Agusta) to restart operations. Production is expected to ramp-up gradually, so it will take a little longer than usual for customers to receive their MV Agusta motorcycles. This also depends on the status of the lockdown in other countries and the opening of shipping routes.
