While Ola Electric maintains a lead in year-to-date and fiscal year totals, its February performance represents its fourth-lowest monthly score in nearly four years. Conversely, Greaves Electric Mobility has seen a revival in demand, with sales in the first two months of 2026 up 33 percent year on year. GEM, which has rebounded after a sharp decline in CY2024, is on track to hit the 2,75,000-unit cumulative milestone by the end of March 2026. Currently, the top 5 manufacturers are TVS Motor, Bajaj Auto, Ather Energy, Hero Vida and GEM.

To sustain this momentum, GEM and Ampere announced the upcoming launch of a sixth-generation electric scooter for FY2027. This model is specifically designed to “de-fossilise” the mass market by targeting the sub-Rs 1 lakh petrol scooter segment. Currently, GEM’s portfolio spans from the affordable Reo 80 (Rs 59,900) to the flagship Ampere Nexus (Rs 1,19,900), addressing both entry-level and family-oriented segments.
