Bajaj has launched a new entry-level model in its EV line-up, called the Chetak 3001, at Rs 99,990 (ex-showroom, Bengaluru). The 3001 replaces the erstwhile Chetak 2903, and now all Chetak models have moved onto the new chassis platform that debuted last year with the launch of the Chetak 35 models.

  1. The 3001 is now the most affordable Bajaj Chetak model
  2. 0-80 percent charge in 3hr50min, thanks to the quick 750W charger
  3. Available in three colours, deliveries to begin soon

Bajaj Chetak 3001 range and charging time details

Gets a big 35-litre boot and some connectivity features as an option

Powering this new Chetak 3001 is a 3kWh battery pack, which is rated for a claimed range of 127km, although it hasn’t been specified whether this is an IDC claim or a real-world one. A rather fast 750W charger is supplied with the 3001, and this charger can top up the scooter’s battery from 0-80 percent SOC in 3hours and 50 minutes.

Since the 3001 uses the same frame as the more expensive Chetak 35 models, it has the same 35-litre underseat storage area, which is one of its strongest USPs, especially considering its positioning in the growing EV sector.

Just like the Chetak 3503 (the next step up in the Bajaj EV family), the new Chetak 3001 also has a top speed of 63kph. And like that model, the new 3001 also uses drum brakes at both ends. As has been an enduring Chetak hallmark, the 3001 too comes with a full-metal body.

The Chetak 3001 comes with a colour LCD screen, and when you equip it with the accessory TecPac, you can access features like call and music control. Other features bundled with the TecPac include ‘Guide Me Home’ lights, hill-hold assist, a reverse light and an auto-flashing tail-light. You get two riding modes here - Eco and Sports.

Specifications such as motor power, vehicle dimensions and TecPac subscription cost haven’t been shared in the press release. We have reached out to Bajaj for clarification on these matters and will update this story once we receive a response.

Bajaj Chetak 3001 price and colours

At Rs 99,990 (ex-showroom, Bengaluru), the Bajaj Chetak 3001 is now the most affordable model in the line-up. At this price, it not only undercuts a large chunk of other Indian EVs but is also more affordable than some 125cc petrol scooters. At its asking price, the 3001 is just Rs 1,500 more expensive than the 2903, which it replaces. The Chetak 3001 is available in five colours – red, yellow, black, white and blue – and deliveries are expected to commence shortly.

The Chetak has seen significant growth in sales over the last couple of years, and with the introduction of the new entry-level 3001, we expect its market presence to strengthen even further.
