...but, the first 10,000 bookings will get the bike at Rs 2.23 lakh.

The Speed 400 is powered by a liquid-cooled, 398cc, single-cylinder engine making 40hp/37.5Nm.

The India-spec bike runs on either Apollo Alpha H1 tyres or MRF Steel Brace units.

The Speed 400 gets a hazard light function.

The left-hand switch pod is very reminiscent of the bigger multi-cylinder Triumphs.

The exhaust on the Speed 400 differs from the one on the Scrambler 400 X and there's even an accessory pipe available.

Seat height is a very manageable 790mm and the single-piece seat appears quite spacious for two people.

The digi-analogue dash on the new Triumph 400s features a large speedometer and a digital tachometer.

Triumph has unveiled two new 400cc bikes, the Speed 400 and the Scrambler 400 X.

The Triumph Scrambler 400 X gets a double barrel exhaust.

The Scrambler 400 X gets more off-road-friendly footpegs and brake lever.

Both bikes will have optional extras including luggage options.
