Kawasaki has expanded its dual-sport lineup in the US with the introduction of the KLR650 DF (Durable Force). Positioned as a rugged variant between the standard KLR650 and the fully loaded adventure variant, the DF builds on the brand’s go-anywhere dual-sport platform. It is powered by the renowned 652cc liquid-cooled single-cylinder engine paired with a 5-speed gearbox, producing 40hp and 53Nm of torque. The DF comes equipped with an LCD digital instrument cluster, standard dual-channel ABS, 21/17 wheel setup, and 41mm telescopic front fork paired with an adjustable link-type monoshock.

The biggest change is the heavy-duty tubular steel crash bars designed to protect the front fairing and radiator from trail impacts and tip-overs. Unlike the Adventure variant, the DF sheds the factory fitted hard side panniers and auxiliary fog lamps, and is finished in a metallic gray colour scheme. Keeping the long range travel capability in focus, the motorcycle features a 23 litre fuel tank, rubber-damped rider touchpoints, a two-position adjustable tall windscreen and a reinforced rear carrier rack.

It is highly unlikely that the KLR650 DF is heading to India anytime soon, as the big single-cylinder thumper remains exclusive to overseas markets like North America. In the US, the 2027 KLR650 DF ABS price starts from USD 7,699 (equivalent to Rs 7.31 lakh) and will begin arriving at dealerships in December.

Poll of the month

There will be 12 new Citroen and Jeep launches by 2030. Will this boost interest in these brands?

Yes, fresh models is just what's needed.
Only if sales and service expands alongside.
Won't be enough. Established brands are too strong.
