The automotive sector is rebounding from the pandemic-induced slowdown and a global chip shortage. Just in time for the festive season, manufacturers have lined up their latest models to woo customers and put a spring in the step of the industry. While we can’t cover all the models releasing soon, let’s take a look at some that are the most exciting in their respective categories:

  1. Tata Punch

Tata has already made quite a splash with its new-generation vehicles – the Altroz, Nexon, Harrier and Safari – in their respective segments. Now, it enters the micro-SUV space with the 5-seater Punch, which boasts of being one of the safest in its class. This newcomer has the same engine as the Altroz and Tiago with a turbocharged unit option. The Punch is packed with features such as automatic climate control, a semi-digital instrument cluster, a 7.0-inch touchscreen infotainment system with controls mounted on the steering.

  1. Volkswagen Taigun

This is Volkswagen’s first baby SUV in India, and the carmaker hopes to hit the ground running in the most fiercely contested segment. It goes up against the Seltos, Creta, Harrier, Duster, and Kushaq. The Taigun is powered by a 1.0-litre TSI and 1.5-litre TSI petrol engine, producing 115 and 150hp, respectively. You get a 6-speed manual and a 7-speed automatic in the latter specification. The cabin is loaded with features such as a 10-inch infotainment screen, ventilated front seats, digital driver’s display, electric sunroof, and ambient lighting. The SUV also boasts a tyre pressure monitoring system, ESC, hill control, six airbags, and a rear park distance control sensor.

  1. MG Astor

Yet another entry into the compact SUV segment, this is MG’s most affordable offering. This ‘intelligent’ car comes with an AI-powered robot, steering feel modes, a 10.1-inch infotainment screen, digital instruments display, heated ORVMs, and a Bluetooth-enabled key. The SUV also features a panoramic sunroof, air purifier, electric parking brake, automatic wipers, front and rear armrests, and over 80 connected car features. It is also equipped with six airbags, an anti-lock braking system with EBD, traction control, electronic stability control, and hill descent control. The Astor’s engine options include a 1.5-litre naturally aspirated unit and a 1.4-litre turbo-petrol unit.

The advanced driver assistance systems enable functions such as adaptive cruise control, forward collision warning, and intelligent headlamp control. For the best experience, Astor has automatic emergency braking, lane departure prevention, rear-drive assist, and a speed assist system.

Conclusion

The competition in the automobile sector is certainly ramping up, and the ultimate benefactor will be the customer. This festive season, consider this a guide to buying your dream car. And don’t forget to buy car insurance to keep yourself financially protected against any unfortunate incident.
