Follow usEver since it came out in 2007, the Suzuki Access has been a popular scooter because of its wonderful blend of practicality, reliability, zippy performance and a decent price tag. Here, we’ll list out the reasons why you should consider the Access if you’re on the lookout for a new scooter.
One of the Access’ USPs has always been its smooth and energetic engine. In its latest generation, too, these qualities have been carried forward, and the Access’ engine is one of the smoothest on any scooter available in India. Despite its modest output figures, it is an eager mill, and you can hold a steady 70-80kph cruise without any undue strain on the engine. It is this duality in its character which makes the Access’ engine one of the best in the business.
The Access has always been one of the more affordable offerings in its class, and with prices ranging between Rs 83,800 and Rs 1.02 lakh (ex-showroom, Delhi), the scooter’s latest model continues to do so. It is also known to be easy and light on the wallet to own and run, in addition to having a well-known reputation for being one of the most hardy and reliable offerings in the market.
A big factor buyers consider when picking a machine in this class is its mileage, and the Access scores well in this regard, too. Its refined engine is also known for its fuel-sipping nature, which is a prerequisite for someone shopping for a 125cc scooter.
That said, there are also a couple of chinks in this scooter’s armour.
While the Access is undoubtedly a fuel-efficient scooter, the lack of a start/stop function seems like an obvious miss on Suzuki’s part. What is puzzling is that the Access’ sibling, the Burgman Street EX, comes with start/stop tech, but you cannot opt for that feature here.
In an age where most scooters have moved to a 12-inch setup both fore and aft, including Suzuki’s own e Access, the presence of a 10-inch wheel in 2025 seems like another obvious miss. Scooters with 12-inch wheels have better stability at higher speeds and can shrug off bigger bumps without too much fuss, and this would have been a valuable change on the Access in its latest guise.
