We stack up the BNCAP scores of the Venue against the segment-leading Nexon and see how the two fare.

The Hyundai Venue and Tata Nexon compact SUVs have received a 5-star safety rating from Bharat NCAP. These ratings apply to all of their variants. But which of the two scores better in key safety parameters? We analyse exactly that in this article to see which of the two models performed better in crash-safety tests.

Hyundai Venue vs Tata Nexon: Adult occupant protection tests

Venue secures more points in critical adult safety areas

While Bharat NCAP has given a 5-star safety rating for both the Venue and Nexon in adult occupant protection (AOP) tests, the Venue scored 0.35 points and 1.24 points higher than the Nexon in the frontal offset deformable barrier test and the side movable deformable barrier test, respectively. Both models provide similar protection levels to the critical parts of the driver and co-driver in the frontal offset deformable barrier test. However, in the side movable deformable barrier test, protection for the chest area was ‘good’ in the Venue but ‘adequate’ in the Nexon. Both compact SUVs were given an ‘OK’ rating in the side pole impact test.

The Venue and Nexon have secured 5 stars for child occupant protection (COP), but the Venue’s score of 44.46/49 is 0.63 points higher than the Nexon’s. That’s because the Venue fared slightly better in the frontal crash tests with both the 18-month-old and 3-year-old dummies, and it also got a higher dynamic score. Both SUVs are on par with each other when it comes to side crash tests, CRS (child restraint systems) installation score and vehicle assessment score.

Hyundai Venue vs Tata Nexon: Safety features

Both SUVs come with similar safety tech from the base trim

In terms of safety features, both the Venue and Nexon come with standard fitments that include 6 airbags, ABS with EBD, electronic stability control (ESC), adjustable headrests for all occupants, hill-hold function, rear parking sensors, ISOFIX mounts and a manual day/night interior rearview mirror (IRVM). However, when it comes to adjustable headrests in the base trim, the Nexon provides them for all seats, but the Venue offers them only for the front seats.
