The Velar was revealed in 2017 as the fourth model in the Range Rover line-up, and the SUV slots neatly into the wide gap between the Sport and the Evoque, both in terms of size and price. Rivalling the Mercedes-Benz GLE and BMW X5, the current Velar on sale is the facelifted version introduced in 2023. Here, we answer some of the most frequently asked questions about the Range Rover Velar, covering its price, features, engine options and more.
What is the Range Rover Velar price?
Rs 79.9 lakh onwards
The top-spec Autobiography variant, available in turbo-petrol and diesel guises, is priced at Rs 85.90 lakh, ex-showroom. Range Rover introduced the Velar Autobiography in July 2025 at Rs 89.90 lakh, but due to the revised GST rates on cars, its price is now down by Rs 4 lakh. Meanwhile, the petrol-only Dynamic SE base variant sells for Rs 79.9 lakh.
What engine options does the Range Rover Velar offer?
2L turbo-petrol and diesel
The Velar petrol uses a 2-litre turbocharged motor with peak outputs of 250hp and 365Nm. Its diesel counterpart, also displacing 2 litres, generates 204hp and 430Nm but adds a mild-hybrid system. Both of these four-cylinder engines are mated to an 8-speed automatic gearbox that channels drive to all four wheels. The Velar diesel does the 0-100kph sprint in a claimed 8.3 seconds, while the petrol model is eight-tenths of a second quicker with its 7.5-second time.
Is there a 7 seater Range Rover Velar?
Seats up to 5 occupants
No, the Velar is a 5 seater SUV. The front seats offer ample legroom, but the high tunnel and the centre console that extends back make the rear seats better suited for two, as highlighted in our Velar review. These can be split-folded (40:20:40) to increase boot space.
What features does the Range Rover Velar get?
20-inch alloy wheels, Meridian sound system
LED headlights, 20-inch alloy wheels, a powered tailgate and a panoramic sunroof (fixed: Dynamic SE, sliding: Autobiography) are some of the Velar’s standard exterior features, while the interior is equipped with an 11.4-inch touchscreen with wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, a 12.3-inch driver’s display, a Meridian sound system, electrically adjustable front seats, four-zone climate control and a wireless charger. However, massaging, heating and cooling functions for the front seats and configurable ambient lights are exclusive to the top-spec Velar.
Does the Range Rover Velar come with air suspension?
Only on the top-spec Autobiography
2026 Range Rover Velar dimensions (in mm) | |
| Length | 4,797 |
| Width (mirrors folded) | 2,041 |
| Height | 1,683 (coil spring), 1,678 (air suspension) |
| Wheelbase | 2,874 |

Range Rover offers air suspension only with the Velar Autobiography. It can lower the SUV by 10mm to make getting in and out easier and can also raise the ride height by 25mm over the standard setting for off-road use (see dimensions table above). While the ride quality is very comfortable, it does thud through the large potholes. The Dynamic SE variant, on the other hand, uses a coil spring setup.
Ex-showroom Range Rover Velar prices are as of March 5, 2026.
