I am planning to buy a hybrid car for myself, with a maximum budget of ₹25 lakh. I do not really want to go for Maruti because of its build quality, unless it presents a strong alternative. I know some cars are going to be launched in 2026, especially the Duster. What do you suggest?

It offers better ground clearance and a more SUV-like stance, though the overall experience is more comfort-focused than performance-oriented.

Since you mentioned waiting, the Renault Duster hybrid is expected around the Diwali period. It is worth considering if you are not in a hurry, as it could combine an SUV form factor with a strong hybrid setup. However, since it is not yet on sale, real-world performance, pricing and ownership experience are still unknown.

Hi, I have been using a sedan for the past 12 years. I want to purchase a midsize SUV for a usage of around 250 to 500 km per month and a long trip once in a quarter. I have shortlisted Creta, Kushaq, Elevate and Hyryder. My budget is between Rs. 16 lakh and 18 lakh. I want to use the car for the next 10 years. I want a car with a spacious cabin that has enough leg room and offers good riding comfort. Suggest me such a car.

With your low monthly running and long-term ownership plan, petrol is the right choice. The Honda Elevate is the best fit here. It offers a spacious cabin with good rear legroom, a comfortable ride and Honda’s reputation for long-term reliability. The naturally aspirated petrol engine is smooth and easy to live with, and the car is well suited to both city driving and occasional long trips. The Hyundai Creta is also a strong option with a more premium cabin and a slightly more comfortable ride, but the Elevate offers a bit more performance for highway use. The Skoda Kushaq is the driver’s car of the lot, but it is not as spacious as the rest. The Toyota Urban Cruiser Hyryder hybrid is a good, no-nonsense altenative. I live in Bangalore and want to buy a car. My usage is around 20km per day, at least three times a week, along with a few day trips around Bangalore within 100km and a couple of weekend trips around Bangalore for leisure. I like the Syros EV Blackline and Duster Iconic Launch Edition. Both are in a similar budget. What would you recommend? Are there any other cars you would suggest?

You are not doing enough daily kilometres to offset the higher upfront cost, and your weekend trips will require more planning around charging infrastructure. If you want a more premium and feature-rich alternative, the Kia Syros is worth considering, but the Duster is the better driver's car and offers a more engaging ownership experience.

The Brezza LXI Turbo is far superior to the Punch and Tiago as far as smoothness, performance, and cabin space are concerned. It is also backed by Maruti's widespread support network, and the ownership experience is likely to be fuss-free. The on-road cost of the Brezza LXI will fall within your Rs 9 lakh budget, and even though you might miss a few features, it still feels worth opting for. Alternatively, you could also consider the Maruti Dzire VXI MT for its large boot, comfy ride and strong fuel efficiency.
