Please suggest a car with a ₹12 lakh on-road price which offers good safety, better reliability, good performance, good refinement, and good mileage.

At your budget of Rs 12 lakh, the best all-rounder you can get is the Nissan Magnite, which really delivers what you and a lot of buyers are looking for without breaking the bank. It's a compact SUV with good ground clearance and offers good ride comfort.
The interior of this Nissan car is spacious, and within your budget, you'll get a good amount of features too. It's also achieved a 5-star crash test rating from Global NCAP, and gets 6 airbags as standard, among many other safety features.
At your budget, you'll also be able to get its more powerful engine option - the 1.0-litre turbo petrol - with either a manual or CVT automatic gearbox. This engine is also very fuel efficient, and Nissan has been known to offer good reliability and reasonable maintenance costs as well.

I need a good, proper automatic car for a family with a max budget of 12 lakh (on-road). For 80-90% city and 10-20% highway usage. Looking for a good driving experience (ease of driving and good driving view), good safety, decent fuel efficiency (good if possible), reliability, good after-sales service and fuss-free ownership. Open for any car type, sub-4m, sedan, hatchback, etc.

For your requirement of a proper automatic under ₹12 lakh on-road with mostly city usage, we would suggest going for the Hyundai i20 IVT.The CVT gearbox is extremely smooth, which makes it very easy to drive in bumper-to-bumper traffic. The car is also compact, easy to manoeuvre and has good visibility, which is important for daily city driving. It feels premium inside, well-equipped and offers a fuss-free ownership experience with good after-sales support. If you specifically want a higher driving position, then you can also consider the Nissan Magnite CVT. It offers SUV-like seating, is easy to drive and still comes with a smooth automatic gearbox.

I own Tiago first generation XT petrol and am not happy with 3 cylinder engine performance. It has too much vibration that can be felt till gear know. I am looking for TATA because I am extremely happy with highway road grip and progressive steering control and safety. But at the same time components of TATA happen to fail prematurely in my case, I don't know about others. My budget is 15 lakhs. Please suggest what should I consider. Thanks

For your requirements, we would suggest going for the Honda Elevate as your first choice. The Elevate’s 4-cylinder petrol engine feels much smoother and more refined, so you won’t get those vibrations through the gear lever or cabin anymore. It is also easy to drive in the city, and on the highway, it feels stable with predictable steering, which matches what you like about your current car. Overall, it will feel like a clean, proper upgrade in terms of refinement and ease of ownership. If you still want to stay with Tata because you like the road grip, steering feel, and safety, consider the lower variants of the Tata Sierra petrol. The Sierra’s naturally aspirated petrol engine is much smoother than your Tiago, and for city driving, it will feel perfectly fine and easy to use. However, on the highway or during overtakes, it can feel a bit short on power. In terms of performance, it may not feel like a major upgrade over your current car, but it will definitely be far more refined, which is one of your main concerns.

I wish to buy my first car. It will be used for ferrying a family of 6 which includes elderly parents. Vehicle’s daily use is expected to be below 3-4 kms. Occasional road trips would make the monthly mileage to be around 300-400 KMS at max. Please suggest a six seater MUV which could tick all the requirements. Seating Comfort with easy ingress egress, ease of driving, spacious. Also suggest the best transmission to go for.

Go for the Maruti Suzuki XL6 Alpha+ 6‑speed automatic; with 3-4 km daily runs and six onboard, it best blends easy ingress, smooth city drive, and comfortable captain seats.Captain seats in row two make entry and exit easier for ageing knees, and the 2740 mm wheelbase opens usable room in all three rows. The 6‑speed torque‑converter automatic is easiest in stop‑go traffic, smoother than an AMT at 10-20 km/h and simpler than a DCT. With just 300-400 km a month and 3-4 km daily, a petrol XL6 fits and avoids diesel DPF issues on short trips. Its compact footprint keeps parking stress low while still seating six comfortably. The one thing you give up is strong highway punch; the XL6’s naturally aspirated petrol feels adequate, not quick, when fully loaded and overtaking at 80-100 km/h.If your trips grow longer and frequent around 500+ km a month with 4-6 hour highways, consider the Kia Carens with 1.5‑turbo DCT (6‑seater) for stronger performance and 2780 mm wheelbase.During the test drive, seat your parents in the second row, try the one‑touch tumble to the third row, and check creep smoothness and gear changes at 10-20 km/h.
