Hi Team, I am planning to buy a new SUV and am currently inclined towards the Tata Safari Adventure X+ automatic diesel. I would like to know whether it is a better choice compared to the Mahindra XUV 7XO and the Mahindra Scorpio N diesel in terms of overall experience. If performance is your biggest priority and you still want a large family SUV without stretching the budget too far, the Mahindra XUV 7XO petrol automatic is the one we would pick. Its 2.0 turbo petrol feels the strongest and most effortless in this group, whether you are overtaking on the highway or driving with a full load of passengers. The automatic gearbox also suits the engine well and makes daily driving much easier, while the cabin itself feels spacious, comfortable and well-equipped. Even in lower or mid variants, you still get the same strong engine, which helps keep costs under control.The Hyundai Alcazar 1.5 turbo petrol DCT is the more polished and city-friendly alternative. It feels lighter to drive, and refinement is excellent, but the DCT gearbox is not always the smoothest at crawling city speeds and can feel slightly jerky in stop-and-go traffic. It also does not have the same effortless punch or road presence as the Mahindra when fully loaded. The MG Hector petrol is spacious and comfortable, but performance is nowhere close to the Mahindra, and despite having a smaller engine, fuel efficiency is not one of its strengths either.The Tata Harrier and Tata Safari are now available with Tata’s newer 1.5 turbo petrol engine, but performance is adequate. It still does not feel as effortless or as strong as the Mahindra’s larger 2.0 turbo petrol, especially in a full-size SUV application. It certainly is the most emotion-driven choice, as it has the most powerful engine and the sharpest driving dynamics. However, you're also right about the need for DPF maintenance, which, with your 80 percent Bengaluru city usage, will require some extra effort. Moreover, if you are looking for efficiency, the XUV7XO - even the diesel - is not the right choice. Mahindra typically tunes its engines for performance over mileage, and if there is a mileage benefit to the diesel, it will be felt out on the highway, rather than in the city.Thus, if mileage is a concern, the Toyota Innova Hycross strong hybrid is a much better choice, with excellent figures irrespective of city or highway use. If your budget stretches to Rs 40 lakh, consider going for the higher ZX (O) variant, which gives you more creature comforts inside the cabin. And if service is a consideration, Toyota is on a much higher level than both other brands. It's also got the most spacious cabin, especially in the third row. It's not the most emotional or exciting choice, but when it comes to peace of mind, it's hard to fault.

The Kia Seltos HTX is worth the step up over the HTK for a mix of daily city use with some highway trips and a budget that stretches to about Rs 19 lakh on road. It feels nicer to live with every day: it gets useful features like ventilated seats, a larger 12.3-inch HD touchscreen, and dual zone climate control.
