Hi, I am confused between the Seltos (ventilated seats) and the Elevate (missing ventilation and some minor features like a front parking sensor) petrol automatic for Chennai city as a first-time car buyer. Please help me decide between the two.

The Kia Seltos is the better choice here. It is better equipped than the Honda Elevate, has a more spacious cabin and overall feels more upmarket and refined. The Elevate has a larger boot, and its 1.5-litre petrol engine is very flexible and efficient.
However, the Honda Elevate now feels a generation behind the new Seltos, which has moved the game forward in the mid-size SUV segment.

Go for the kia seltos! Fantastic and smooth drive. The new K3 platform has enhanced the safety. Also it's bigger on the inside now and the feeling of not getting off the car with a wet back is amazing!

I would anyday choose the Elevate over Seltos. Airy cabin, muscular look, reliable engine, good ground clearance, sufficient boot space, well regressed NA engine, etc.

Lol I feel so pity of these so called honda lovers. Kia’s IVT uses a chain-type belt, whereas traditional CVTs (like those in many Honda models) use a push belt design. The chain setup reduces slippage and energy loss during power transmission, which improves responsiveness and efficiency. Make your choice now. Seltos is and always will be advanced product. Now with the Global K3 platform it lags behind none.

People donot know here that Kia's IVT is more superior than Honda's CVT. The difference lies inthe use of chain in IVT wheres a rubber belt in CVT. You will notice the difference in driving eventually. Problem is people have a deja vu of Honda what it had years back and thinking ither brands can't match to that level bis just hypocrisy. I feel pity for those people. Take Seltos IVT eyes closed. Its a superior product than Elevate any day.

Auto cars opinion is highly biased. Japanese technology and a highly successful Ivtech engine is in a different pedestal to be compared . Limitations is the available of variants . Ensure you buy from a reliable and customer friendly agent.i had to escalate to honda to get things done which was pre paid . No brainer . A honda elevate hands down. Recently purchased and final two short listed was Elevate /Hyryder . Kia seltos was also on the run as their Gizmos was appealing though

Go with the Honda Elevate hands down ... Nothing like , Honda's reliability and peace of mind ... The cabin is super spacious and it has all the good features which you need in your daily usage including ADAS ... The engine is punchy enough for day to day city drive as well as highways ... Kia on the other hand has features but the ivt engine is no match for Honda's CVT ... Also , the turbo power train GTX is much more expensive

Hi. Just go for elevate dude. The features might distract you. But at the end of the day drivability, handling, reliability, maintenance matters. All these stuffs are not visible unlike those flashy features. Always remember you are buying a car not a smart phone.

Without doubt, the Honda Elevate. Nothing matches the Japanese in terms of reliability and longevity, especially Toyota and Honda. Yes they are a little low on the gizmos which are infact non-essential. But in the "main car" department, they are leagues ahead.

I have been owning a honda city since 2020. Initially you might feel like paying a premium for honda cars but over the long run the cost ot ownership, maintenance and support from the company over the complete lifecycle of your Vehicle is worth every penny. I don't know which car is better but in terms of ownership Honda is the most reliable even though I own hyundai as well.

I suggest go with automatic base model of Elevate Do we really need ventilated seats? Or Sunroofs? If you compare the automatic base trims of seltos 15.8 (approx on road Mumbai) and elevate 15.5 ( approx on road Mumbai) you can negotiate hard and further reduce the cost Safety aspect elevate wins The front hood is bigger than kia While driving more of the hood is visible, you feel up are driving a higher segment SUV Over all look wise from the exterior too, Elevate looks bigger Honda engine and reliability over kia Elevate is a no nonsense car Also they are throwing in a 360 camera from free I was in a similar boat Hence the research☺️

Terrible experience with top end seltos diesel bought 4 years ago. KIA motors is least bothered and the service centre (Shivaay Kia, Kurla, Mumbai) is more pathetic in terms of accepting and resolving multiple pending issues since the car purchase... Go for any other brand than KIA... Honest suggestion... We are seriously contemplating approaching Honorable Consumer court...

Go with Elevate as first time car buyer there will be some extra maintenance Elevate will be cost effective and long time benefits. Elevate will give you same fun while driving even after couple of years but seltos the drive and performance will drop yoy

Hi Autocar Team, I am planning to buy a 5-seater SUV within a budget of ₹18–19 lakh. I currently own a 15-year-old Honda City and am looking to upgrade. My key requirements are: Automatic transmission Petrol or hybrid powertrain Comfortable rear seat space (especially for second-row passengers) My usage is around 500 km per month, mostly within the city, with occasional outstation trips every couple of months. Please suggest a suitable SUV that meets these requirements.

You should consider the Honda Elevate ZX CVT. Coming from your Honda City, you'll appreciate the familiarity when it comes to the drive experience and after-sales service. It gets a peppy 1.5-litre petrol engine that's paired to a smooth CVT automatic gearbox, which makes it easy and stress-free to drive. The Elevate also has a comfy rear seat, and getting in/out of the cabin is easy, which your parents will appreciate. The Honda also feels composed going over broken roads and at highway speeds. Alternatively, you can even consider the Hyundai Creta SX IVT, which offers a smoother drive and a more refined cabin.

I am looking for a mid-size SUV and am confused between the Duster and the Elevate. Most of my usage will be for long trips, with very little city driving. My mind says Elevate CVT, as it is a no-nonsense car with strong reliability. My heart says Duster DCT, but worried as it is a freshly baked product. I'm worried about the brand’s poor service and the reliability of a DCT, etc. Please guide me.

If dependability and fuss-free ownership are your top priorities, the Honda Elevate CVT remains the safer choice, backed by Honda’s strong reputation for reliability and longevity. It’s a simple, well-sorted SUV that’s easy to live with, especially for largely urban usage. That said, given your focus on long highway trips, the Renault Duster might actually serve you better on the open road. Its 1.3‑litre turbo‑petrol engine is punchy and well‑suited to highway cruising, and the ride quality is distinctly more mature and composed at higher speeds. Compared to the Elevate, the Duster feels more planted, and cabin insulation is noticeably better, while the Elevate’s CVT can get noisy when driven hard.Your concerns about Renault’s patchy service network and the long‑term reliability of its DCT are valid, but they may not be deal‑breakers if the new Duster delivers on its promise. If Renault manages to reinvigorate its dealer ecosystem, ownership experience could see a marked improvement.

I currently own a Maruti S-Cross and a Honda Brio, and I plan to replace both. My budget for a 5-seater SUV is around 15-16 lakh, and for a compact hatchback, around 6 lakh. Both cars will be used in the city, and I want petrol options that are easy to maintain and fun to drive. The SUV will occasionally be used for family trips with four people (2 adults and 2 kids). My must-have features include a rear parking camera, steering-mounted controls, automatic climate control, rear AC vents (in the SUV), and keyless entry. I really like my current cars, especially the Brio.

The Skoda Kushaq 1.0-litre turbo-petrol with the 8-speed automatic transmission is a fun-to-drive mid-size SUV that you can replace your Maruti S-Cross with. Its compact size makes it ideal for 2 adults and 2 kids, and the Classic+ variant will fall within your Rs 16 lakh budget, and it has most of the features listed, except a rear parking camera. You can also consider a Honda Elevate V CVT, which will be very easy to maintain and is fun to drive. With your Rs 6 lakh budget, though, you will only be able to get entry-level variants of the Hyundai Grand i10 Nios or mid variants of a Maruti Celerio and Tata Tiago. Between the three, the Nios has the nicest interior, while the Celerio's engine will be more efficient. Do keep in mind that neither of the three cars will be as fun to drive as your Brio. So, if your car is in good condition, you should retain it.
