My daily drive is around 25-30 km in Gurgaon. I'm looking to buy a luxury car in the 40-60 lakh budget. I've shortlisted the BMW iX1 as it offers great value with Delhi registration and low maintenance, and running costs. Are there any other options I should consider, or any other downsides of iX1 that I should be aware of? I do understand that the resale value of electric cars is a bit uncertain.

You are on the right track in considering the BMW iX1, which we honestly think you should not think twice about and buy. The iX1 is an exceptional value offering excellent space, especially at the rear, good features and a premium feel. It is very enjoyable to drive too, and the decent range it gives means you won’t have to charge it too frequently if your usage is in the city.
We assume you have the possibility of installing a home charger because that is a must to ensure a worry-free ownership experience. Yes, the resale value of EVs is bad, but we feel that is compensated for by the easy driving experience an electric car gives.

The best choice considering your requirements would be the Mahindra XUV 7XO. However, at the Rs 20 lakh mark, you can only get the lower AX 3 spec of the 7XO that misses out on some features.The Kia Carens Clavis, instead, is a better choice. The third-row space is better than the Mahindra and even though it does not get a 2.0-litre engine, the 1.5 turbo-petrol has good performance to handle a full load.The Clavis will also be available in a higher HTK Plus (O) trim that has more features. Mated to the engine is the option of a 6-speed manual or a 7-speed DCT, and we would recommend the latter for its ease of use and swift shift speeds.

Hi, I am using a Duster 110 RXZ and now want to sell it and buy a new SUV. What would you suggest, a petrol or a diesel SUV? My monthly run is around 1,000 km, and I have already driven 85,000 km in 8 years. My budget is around Rs 20 lakh, and I need a good, tough SUV that can be used for very long drives.

Since your monthly running is not very high, you can opt for a petrol SUV. In the Rs 20 lakh budget, you can consider the Tata Sierra, Hyundai Creta, Kia Seltos, and Skoda Kushaq, to name a few. All three are good options and will serve you well.The Hyundai Creta and Seltos are mechanically identical, while the Kushaq and Taigun share a lot between them. To be fair, it comes down to the design and features you prefer.The Renault Duster is also a great option to consider, and while prices are not out yet, it is likely to be in the same range as the above-mentioned SUVs. However, our recommendation will be to wait for the new upcoming Duster.Since you already have the older version and have a good experience with it, the new one will be worth waiting for. It has modern looks, a premium cabin and lots of features, making it a strong contender in this segment.
