The Maruti Suzuki Ertiga CNG and the Kia Carens Clavis EV come with a significant price difference. The long-range Clavis EV costs over Rs 10 lakh more than the CNG Ertiga. While an EV will always have lower running costs, you’ll need to drive a lot to recover the higher upfront price. You also have to factor in range limitations and the less-developed charging network, which means trips require more planning compared to CNG.
The Ertiga CNG, on the other hand, may not be as well-equipped, but it offers running costs of about Rs 3-5/km depending on CNG prices in your state. Plus, there’s no hassle of charging or long wait times. If you travel frequently on highways, the Ertiga CNG is the more practical choice.
