I intend to replace my TATA Tiago NRG and am looking for a small SUV EV. My driving is around 5000 km per year with mostly highway driving for leisure trips of maximum 400 km per day. I am thinking of buying the Punch Empowered 40kw under a budget of 13 lakh but I am worried about "range anxiety".

Range anxiety is understandable, but it is largely a planning issue. On a 400 km trip, you will need a quick charging stop, and with the growing DC fast-charging network, this is easily manageable. The key is to plan your stops around available chargers and not run the battery too low.

Overall, the Punch EV Empowered 40 kWh is the right choice for your usage and budget. Plan your charging stops and you will find range anxiety is far less of an issue than it seems.

I am planning to upgrade from Tiago under a budget of 14 to 15 lakh. I got a quote for the 3XO AX7 automatic around 14.5 lakh. I was earlier looking for Brezza automatic ZXI plus 15 lakh quote. Should I buy 3XO or at least check some other cars? My yearly running is between 8,000-9,000 km which involves both city and highway driving with weekend trips once in two three months.

Go for the Mahindra XUV 3XO AX7 automatic at Rs. 14.5 lakh. It is a significant upgrade from the Tiago, offering a much larger cabin, a more powerful turbo petrol engine and a genuinely premium feel for the money. The 3XO is one of the most spacious compact SUVs in the segment, with a wide rear bench that makes it a comfortable five-seater, and the AX7 variant is well-equipped without pushing you beyond your budget. The Brezza ZXi+ at Rs 15 lakh is also a strong option, but the 3XO simply offers more car for the money in terms of performance and overall value. The 3XO's turbo petrol engine will make those occasional weekend trips more enjoyable. The only drawback is that the boot is on the smaller side but unless you regularly travel with a lot of luggage, it should not be a deal-breaker.

It is reliable and spacious, but lacks power. I now live in Mumbai and am looking to buy an SUV for both city driving and long trips. I am a driving enthusiast and regularly go on long drives with my family. I typically do at least 1,000km when I come home for holidays every alternate month, while the car will remain mostly idle in the other months. My priorities are a powerful petrol engine producing at least 120hp, an automatic transmission and enough rear-seat space for three people. I don't want too many bells and whistles such as a panoramic sunroof, multiple screens, ADAS or ventilated seats. Basic features are sufficient for me. Please suggest a safe and reliable car for long-term use within a budget of Rs 20-30 lakh on-road. I am also open to considering a used car.

Within your Rs. 15-18 lakh budget, the Ertiga is the best fit, particularly if reliability, ease of ownership and practicality are your priorities. It is a genuinely spacious seven-seater, easy to drive and has good visibility, making it well suited to family use.If you want something a little more premium, the XL6 is worth considering. It offers a more upmarket cabin and six-seat layout, but is essentially the more premium alternative rather than a fundamentally different proposition. It can still be considered within your budget depending on the variant and on-road price.On the steering question, EPS is not something to avoid. Almost all modern cars in this segment use electric power steering, and it is lighter at low speeds while still providing adequate feedback at higher speeds. Hydraulic steering can feel more natural and communicative, but that alone should not determine your choice.

I have shortlisted two options: the Skoda Kylaq Signature automatic and the Mahindra XUV 3XO MX2 Pro automatic. We are a family of five. My current usage is mostly within the city, but based on my future work requirements, it could shift to an 80:20 mix of city and highway driving.

Which car should I buy among Maruti Suzuki Grand Vitara Petrol base or Kia Seltos petrol base? And also tell me if anyone has faced power issue or pickup issue while overtaking as I want the car for long term.

Between the two, the Seltos is the better choice, especially if you are looking at the base variant. It feels more premium, is the newer product and offers a more complete package even in its lower variants.The 1.5-litre naturally aspirated petrol makes 115hp and 144Nm. It isn't a particularly powerful engine, but it is smooth and refined and is perfectly adequate for normal city driving.For overtaking, it won't have the punch of the Seltos turbo, but it isn't underpowered either. With a full load and during quick highway overtakes, you may need to plan ahead and use higher revs. The Grand Vitara's 1.5 petrol is also a smooth, simple powertrain, but its performance is more relaxed and the base variant is quite sparsely equipped.
