My age is 72. The average driving is about 1,000km per month. I am looking for a good, safe, small automatic car for self-driving, including occasional long drives across the country. I find the Innova too big to park when I drive. Please help me choose a car under Rs 15 lakh.

There are many automatic options within your budget. Here are some models you could look at -

Skoda Kylaq: It's got a punchy petrol engine, smooth auto gearbox and has a tough build. It's not the most spacious at the back, but that should not be a deal breaker for you.

Maruti Suzuki Brezza: The Brezza automatic is a sensible pick. It's easy to drive and, while unexciting, the engine gets the job done and scores well on efficiency. The Brezza also has a practical interior. What really works in favour of the Brezza is a hassle-free ownership and service experience that you get with Maruti Suzuki.

Honda Elevate: In case you need something larger, the Honda Elevate CVT in V trim is also an option worth considering. It's got a spacious interior and has a robust suspension. However, the Elevate CVT is best enjoyed with a mild driving style.

One can hope, then, that by the time deliveries of the Tata Sierra begin, things will have improved. Do note that you will only get a low-spec variant of the Sierra diesel in your budget.The new Kia Seltos, which will be revealed on December 10 and launched in early 2026, is definitely worth waiting for. It will not only be larger and more spacious than the current model, but it will also gain many new features. While the current model's petrol and diesel engines are expected to continue, hybrid versions are also expected to join the range further down the line.

Asked by: Thakor Tata has introduced a 1.5-litre 4-cylinder naturally aspirated petrol engine with the new Sierra. Will Tata replace their existing 3-cylinder petrol engines in the Punch, Altroz, and Nexon with this 4-cylinder NA petrol engine? The Punch, Altroz and Nexon benefit from a lower tax slab since they fulfil two key requirements - their length is less than 4 meters, and their petrol engine capacity is less than 1200cc.Even if one of the criteria is not fulfilled, these cars will fall under a higher tax bracket, resulting in a higher price. So, to answer your question, it is highly unlikely that the company will introduce Tata Sierra's 1.5L petrol in these compact cars.

Asked by: Manish I am confused between the Kia Sonet Petrol Turbo DCT and the Nissan Magnite Turbo CVT. Which one should I consider buying? The Kia Sonet and Nissan Magnite make for nice options, and each has its own strengths. The Kia Sonet has a far more upmarket interior, more features and is more powerful too. The dual-clutch gearbox is quick but does tend to fumble in low city speeds.The Nissan Magnite CVT is lower in price and is actually the roomier vehicle, especially in terms of rear seat comfort. Updates for 2025 have made the interior nicer, too, though it's still not quite as nice as a Sonet's. The Magnite's turbo engine and CVT gearbox work well together, making the Nissan a well-rounded package for the money.

It may not be very glamorous, but one of our favourite seven-seaters is the Maruti Suzuki Ertiga, which is very practical, reliable and suits your budget. The 1.5-litre engine is not very exciting, but paired to a smooth 6-speed automatic, it is easy to drive. With all seven seats in place, there is very little boot space, but of course, with the third row tucked away, it can comfortably carry five passengers with their luggage. Being the owner of a Maruti Dzire, you will be familiar with the Maruti Suzuki service experience, which should give you added confidence.
