I want to buy a family SUV, preferably diesel/ hybrid. I have a daily run of 150-200 km. Currently, I have a diesel Altroz. Best option for me at a 20 lakh budget. And is the Kia Seltos GTX(O) version coming any time soon?

With a daily running of 150-200km, a strong hybrid makes the most sense. Within your budget, the Maruti Suzuki Grand Vitara Strong Hybrid or the Toyota Hyryder Strong Hybrid would be the top recommendations.

Both deliver excellent real-world fuel efficiency, often exceeding 20kpl even in city conditions, while offering the convenience of a petrol powertrain and lower maintenance concerns compared to modern diesels. For high-mileage users, the fuel savings can be substantial over time.

While the diesel Kia Seltos remains a capable SUV, modern diesels are not quite as efficient as they once were due to stricter emissions equipment. This is especially true in automatic variants, where the torque converter gearbox further reduces the efficiency advantage over hybrids.

As for the Seltos GTX(O), there is currently no confirmation of a new GTX(O) variant arriving in the immediate future.

Both are manufactured by Toyota in the Strong Hybrid variant. If you are getting a good deal in Maruti then go in for GV and if you are willing to pay a premium for Toyota then Hyryder. Important thing is if you are nimble on your foot, then hybrid is the vehicle for you, else you will get normal average and keep cursing Hyrid Technology and brands.

This Mahindra car is one of the safest cars in the segment, with a 5-star Bharat NCAP rating, and the diesel engine offers strong performance and excellent highway touring ability. Since you're open to different body styles, you could consider the Kia Carens Clavis MPV. It is available in 6 or 7-seating configurations, and it is a good mix of comfort, performance, cabin experience and features. A Kia Seltos will also be a good option, given you're looking for a good driving experience. Kia's sales and service experience is likely to be quite fuss-free, but yes, it isn't as widespread as Maruti's. The Honda City is also a safe and sensible option, with excellent rear seat comfort. It is a car you just can't go wrong with.

Hi, I am a teacher and a first-time female driver with a budget of Rs. 11.5 lakh. We'd recommend a petrol automatic. With a daily running of around 46km and an ownership period of 15 years, it offers the best balance of low ownership costs, reliability and ease of use for a first-time driver.We wouldn't let E20 fuel influence your decision. Modern E20-compliant petrol cars are designed to run on it, and there is no official roadmap beyond E20. It isn't a reason to avoid buying a petrol car today. A CNG automatic will certainly reduce your fuel bills, but the higher purchase price, reduced boot space and limited automatic options make CNG car less attractive unless fuel savings are your overriding priority. An electric car will have the lowest running costs, but at your budget, you'll have to compromise on size or features, and recovering the higher upfront cost will take time.Given your budget and usage, we'd look at the Maruti Suzuki Brezza facelift automatic which will launch soon if you can stretch slightly, or the Maruti Suzuki Fronx Delta+ AGS if you want to stay within budget. Both are easy to drive, have good ground clearance for the 6km of rough village roads and come backed by Maruti Suzuki's extensive service network. If you prefer a smoother automatic, the Hyundai Exter SX AMT is also worth considering.
