I am confused between the BMW X3 30 and the Mercedes-Benz GLC 300. My driving is around 75-80% in the city, and I also enjoy driving. I want a car that is engaging to drive while still being comfortable on city roads. Rear seat comfort is important, as passengers should feel stable and not experience excessive movement. I am also open to waiting for about a year until 2027 to see if the GLC gets a facelift. The X3 has been recently launched, and I prefer buying the latest model available. Could you please help me decide which car would be the better choice?

With 75-80% city use, some fun drives on weekends, and a clear need to keep the back seat calm, the Mercedes GLC 300 4MATIC fits your brief better right now. In slow to medium city speeds, it rides softer, so speed breakers and broken patches are handled with less bounce, and people in the back do not get tossed around.

The steering is light at low speeds, and the automatic gearbox, which changes gears on its own, is very smooth, so daily traffic is easy, yet the engine still feels strong when you want to make a quick overtake. It is also quieter inside, which makes city trips feel less tiring.

The trade-off is that when you really push on a fast road, the GLC does not feel as eager or as tight as the BMW.

Pick the BMW X3 xDrive30 if you drive yourself most of the time and want a car that feels sharper and more connected on an open road. The new X3 also gives you the freshest design and tech today, which matters to you.

Just note that its ride is firmer in the city, so the back seat will feel a bit more movement on rough roads than in the GLC.

On waiting: a GLC facelift by 2026-27 is possible, but India timing is uncertain, and updates may be small. If “latest” is your top goal, the new X3 gives you that today. If city comfort for family comes first, the GLC 300 is the safer bet.

I am confused between Taigun 1.5 Sport and Seltos Diesel X-Line top model. I have owned the Polo AT and Vento AT in the past, so my love for Volkswagen is making this decision difficult.

Go for the Volkswagen Taigun 1.5 TSI Sport. Coming from a Polo and Vento automatic, you already appreciate Volkswagen’s driving DNA, and the Taigun 1.5 TSI is a natural progression. The engine is punchy, the DSG gearbox is quick and engaging, and the overall driving experience is far more involving than the Seltos. The Taigun also feels more compact and agile in the city, while still being comfortable on the highway.The Kia Seltos diesel X-Line is a strong all-rounder with better space, a more premium cabin and a more relaxed long-distance character, but it does not offer the same level of driver engagement. The diesel engine is efficient and torquey, but it lacks the excitement of the 1.5 TSI. Given your history with Volkswagen cars, the Taigun will simply feel more familiar and more enjoyable to drive every day.

Hi, I had planned to buy the Brezza Facelift 1.5 VXI MT and install the necessary accessories after delivery, with a budget of Rs. 12 lakh. However, I am now also considering the Creta 1.5 MT base model or the Kia Seltos base model. The on-road price of the Creta is Rs. 13.61 lakh, while the Seltos costs Rs. 13.72 lakh. Since there is a price difference of about Rs. 1.60 lakh between the Brezza and these two models, I am weighing my options. Would upgrading be a good idea? If so, which one should I choose between the Creta base model or the Seltos base model? Thanks.

If Rs. 1.6-1.7 lakh price difference isn't too much of a stretch for you, then get the entry-level Kia Seltos 1.5 Petrol. It feels far more modern, and more premium than the Maruti Suzuki Brezza, and besides being more spacious, even in its base-spec packs most of the essential features you'd expect at this price.

I am from Delhi, and my daily commute is around 80 km. I am looking for an EV with a budget of around Rs. 17 lakh. I have shortlisted the e Vitara Zeta 61 kWh and the Syros ER HTX 51 kWh. I want a niggle-free ownership experience, at least a 400 km range, a smooth and comfortable ride, and good interior space. I also plan to keep the car for at least 8-10 years. Please suggest which one is the better choice.

The Kia Syros ER HTX 51kWh is the better fit for your requirements. With an 80km daily commute, an electric car makes perfect sense, and the Syros' 51kWh battery is more than capable of comfortably covering your daily usage while delivering a smooth, refined and comfortable driving experience. It also offers a spacious cabin, premium interiors and should feel more modern and sophisticated to live with over the long term.The Maruti Suzuki e Vitara Zeta 61kWh is also a strong option. Its larger battery gives it an advantage on range and provides more flexibility for longer highway trips. Maruti's extensive service network is another plus if long term ownership is a priority. However, unless you frequently undertake long distance journeys, the additional range isn't something you'll use every day.

With a daily running of around 100 km, fuel efficiency becomes a major factor in ownership costs. The Skoda Kushaq petrol automatic is a good car, but the 10-13kpl you are seeing is typical for a turbo petrol automatic, especially with E20 petrol. At this usage, a diesel or a strong hybrid makes far more sense.If you do regular highway runs, a diesel is still the most practical and cost-effective solution. The Mahindra XUV 7XO diesel automatic would be the recommendation here. It is a strong highway car, comfortable, spacious and the diesel engine will deliver significantly better fuel efficiency than your Kushaq. Diesel running costs will be far lower over your kind of mileage. If that is out of your budget, something smaller like a Kia Seltos diesel, while not as powerful, is even more efficient.If your usage is mostly city a strong hybrid could be a better solution. The Maruti Suzuki Victoris is the most practical and cost-effective option. It is well priced, has a proven track record and will dramatically reduce your running costs. The strong hybrid is better suited to the city, where it is more likely to run on its electric motor than use the engine and deliver the better mileage.

I’m planning to buy an EV with a budget of Rs. 19 - 20 lakh. My heart says the Tata Sierra EV Pure 63, but my mind says the Kia Syros top variant because of features like ventilated seats. Kindly suggest which one would be the better choice.

The choice really comes down to your usage and what you value in the car. If you need more space for both passengers and luggage and have a few long drives that you would undertake, then opt for the Tata Sierra. It is a much larger car and has a very spacious interior. The ride quality is also very good over both bad city roads as well as high highway speeds. If, however, your usage is mainly going to be within the city, then the Kia Syros is the better buy. Its compact footprint will be much easier to manage while driving congested streets, and finding parking would be easier. You would also enjoy the top variant of Kia car and its features.

Go for the Maruti Suzuki Brezza automatic. It is the better fit for your requirements. You want a naturally aspirated petrol engine, good mileage in both city and highway driving, and a spacious car for three people. The Brezza delivers on all those points. The 1.5-litre petrol engine of this Maruti Suzuki car is smooth and reliable, and the 6-speed torque converter automatic is well suited to Indian driving conditions. It is also a more spacious car than the Honda Amaze, with a wider cabin and better rear seat comfort for three people. The higher seating position and SUV stance also make it easier to drive in the city and over bad roads.The Amaze is a good car, but it is a compact sedan and does not offer the same level of space or practicality. The Brezza is the more complete package for your needs.
