I am planning to buy an EV in the ₹50-60 lakh price range. My key requirements are around 500 km range, along with good space, comfort, and overall refinement. I have shortlisted the Tesla Model Y L and the BYD Sealion 7. Which of these would make more sense for my needs?

While both your shortlisted EVs are excellent in their own right, they do have their shortcomings. The Tesla Model Y L is priced at Rs 62 lakh (ex-showroom), putting it outside your budget, and though it has an impressive WLTP range, it has yet to be proven in the real world. 

Similarly, although the BYD Sealion 7 represents excellent value for money, its real-world range is far removed from its official figure, and in our real-world test, the dual-motor version of this BYD car managed around 370km on a full charge. 

Of the two, we'd recommend the Sealion 7, which offers better value overall than the Tesla car. However, another EV you should consider in your price range is the recently unveiled Hyundai Ioniq 5 facelift. The original model came the closest to delivering a real-world 500km range in our tests, and this new one, with its larger 84kWh battery, should easily cross that figure. Hyundai's EV powertrains are among the most efficient around, and the Ioniq 5 is as well-appointed and equipped, spacious and comfortable as the best out there.

Thanks for recommendations. Sealion 7 seems a better value for money preposition. If i exclude rear seat comfort from my priorities then how is Mercedes CLA electric considering my other needs ?

Go for Tesla Model YL...take a test drive and u will know the difference....Chinese ev might have all the bells and whistles...but no where near a TESLA

Ya even i suggest...go for tesla,though electric cars don't have any resale but I am sure its going to be better than Chinese brands.

There are two school of thoughts to choose between Creta and Seltos For Seltos the argument is like, it's built on the new platform and is safer snd has a better interior but despite that the Creta is a kore tried and tested model. No influencers advocates for Creta in social media perhaps because they won't get commission on a car that sells by itself. But, again there sre opinions that Creta is a great Diesel car bit not a good petrol car. Which automatic car should really be the buyer's choice given the driving will be 90% in NCR.Every major thing matters Mileage, service cost and comfortable interiors and smooth overtaking. Or is there another player in the market that beats them both

We currently have a 2012 Toyota Etios Liva diesel manual, but we are planning to buy a new car because Delhi's 15-year diesel rule does not allow us to continue using it. We want to switch to a petrol automatic. There are three people in our family. Our usual running includes a 5- 7 km trip to the temple every Monday, along with another 500-600 km of monthly running. Our old car covered around 1,10,000km over the last 14 years. We have Rs 9 lakh in cash and are willing to take a loan. Earlier, we were considering the Kia Seltos HTK(O) petrol DCT, which costs around Rs 18.5 lakh. However, we are now considering the Maruti Suzuki Baleno Alpha O AMT, which costs around Rs 11.5 lakh. The features I specifically want are an auto-dimming IRVM, auto-folding ORVMs and ventilated seats. Everything else is an added bonus, and I do not necessarily require it. The Seltos feels more premium and has a larger engine, but the Baleno makes more practical sense for our usage. What do you think?

Go for the Maruti Suzuki Baleno Alpha AMT (AGS). It’s compact, easy to drive in Delhi traffic, reliable and very efficient. The 1.2 petrol is smooth, and the AMT is simple and dependable. It also keeps your budget in check and leaves you with a smaller loan.The 2026 Baleno Alpha gets auto-dimming IRVM, auto-folding ORVMs and ventilated seats, all the features that you're looking for. The Alpha O gets you the addition of Level 2 ADAS at a premium of Rs 40,000, which you may or may not want to opt for. Overall, this Maruti car is the more practical, sensible and cost-effective choice for your usage.

Go for the Honda Elevate CVT. Both the Elevate and the Toyota Urban Cruiser Hyryder mild hybrid use naturally aspirated petrol engines, but the Elevate’s 1.5-litre engine is more refined, and the CVT gearbox is silky smooth, making it a more relaxed car to drive in everyday conditions. The Elevate also benefits from Honda’s strong reputation for long-term reliability and low maintenance costs, which is exactly what you want from a naturally aspirated petrol automatic. The Hyryder is still a good car, but the Elevate is the more complete package for this brief.

I am new to driving and am looking for a sub-4-metre petrol SUV with a torque converter automatic gearbox. My budget is around Rs 12-13 lakh on-road. I have shortlisted two options: the Skoda Kylaq Signature automatic and the Mahindra XUV 3XO MX2 Pro automatic. We are a family of five. My current usage is mostly within the city, but based on my future work requirements, it could shift to an 80:20 mix of city and highway driving.

Go for the Skoda Kylaq Signature AT. For a new driver with predominantly city use, its 1.0 TSI with a 6-speed torque-converter automatic is smooth and easy to drive, while the compact dimensions make it relatively easy to manage in traffic. It also has a more mature, planted feel on the highway.The Mahindra XUV 3XO MX2 Pro AT is the better choice if rear-seat space is the priority. Its cabin is wider and more accommodating for a family of five, and its 1.2 turbo-petrol makes 200Nm, giving it stronger low-end and mid-range performance than the Kylaq.However, the 3XO's boot is also one of its compromises, while the Kylaq offers a better balance of driving dynamics, boot space and highway manners. With your usage potentially becoming 80:20 city/highway, the Kylaq's combination works particularly well.

Which car should I buy among Maruti Suzuki Grand Vitara Petrol base or Kia Seltos petrol base? And also tell me if anyone has faced power issue or pickup issue while overtaking as I want the car for long term.

Between the two, the Seltos is the better choice, especially if you are looking at the base variant. It feels more premium, is the newer product and offers a more complete package even in its lower variants.The 1.5-litre naturally aspirated petrol makes 115hp and 144Nm. It isn't a particularly powerful engine, but it is smooth and refined and is perfectly adequate for normal city driving.For overtaking, it won't have the punch of the Seltos turbo, but it isn't underpowered either. With a full load and during quick highway overtakes, you may need to plan ahead and use higher revs. The Grand Vitara's 1.5 petrol is also a smooth, simple powertrain, but its performance is more relaxed and the base variant is quite sparsely equipped.
