I ride around 30 km daily in the city and also have back problems. I have shortlisted three motorcycles: the Triumph Speed 400, Honda CB350RS, and TVS Apache RTR 160 4V. Which of these bikes would you recommend for comfortable daily commuting?

Between the three bikes you've shortlisted, all three are comfortable for city use, but they all sit at very different price points, and it wouldn't be right to compare the TVS Apache RTR 160 4V with the Honda CB350RS and Triumph Speed 400. If you want a straightforward commuter, then sticking to a machine in the 150-160cc space like the aforementioned Apache, Bajaj Pulsar N160, and Honda Unicorn would make sense.

These bikes will be lighter and easier to manage within the city (which is where you'll spend most of your life), as well as be fuel-efficient and comfortable.

If instead you do want to look at something more premium, the Honda and Triumph you have shortlisted are also good options. You should also look at the Royal Enfield Classic / Bullet 350 in this segment. These bikes will be larger and more spacious than the 150/160cc options mentioned above, with better build quality, road presence and pillion comfort.

However, they will demand a little more effort at slow speeds and will also not be as fuel-efficient as the commuters.

Hi I am planning to buy a first car for myself. Looking for a sub 4 meter suv. My planned budget is under 12 Lakhs. My options are Mahindra 3XO AX5 Manual, Skoda Kylaq Signature and Hyundai HX5 Turbo. I won't be using the car for daily commute. Will be taking the car once in a week for a 60km drive. Once in a month for a 300 km drive. Comparing these 3 cars 3XO having more features like wireless charging, Rear Camera, All LED lights, 60:40 rear seat. Other 2 are missing one or two of these. I would like to have this car for 10 years. I am little concerned about the Mahindra reliability and Service. As I am looking for a long term ownership, should I increase my budget to 15 lakhs and see a Compact SUV. I am 6' 2. Family of 5. Please advise

The Royal Enfield Meteor 350 has a very manageable 765mm seat height, which should suit your stature. But if you want the lowest 350cc Royal Enfield bike, then it would be the Goan Classic. The Goan has an even lower 750mm perch, which will be even easier to flatfoot.Do bear in mind that the Goan Classic's handlebars are taller than usual, and this is something you should pay attention to on a test ride. We'd advise taking test rides of both the Meteor and Goan and pick whichever one suits you best and the one you prefer the look of more.

I am planning to buy a reliable motorcycle that can cruise comfortably for long distances while also offering a great ownership experience in terms of reliability, fuel efficiency, and service costs. I am interested in the Suzuki V-Strom SX, but I feel a bit skeptical since it is now an older model. Is it still worth buying the V-Strom SX in 2026, or are there other motorcycles that can match the expectations I mentioned above?

The Suzuki V-Strom SX may be a dated machine, but it is a great option for someone who wants a relaxed, reliable and fuel-efficient touring machine. If you are open to considering other form factors aside from the adventure bike style, there are some other machines that will fit the bill for your usage as well. In the neo-retro space, the TVS Ronin, Honda CB350 models and Royal Enfield Classic / Bullet 350 will be good options to consider with their relaxed riding triangles, smooth and torquey engines, as well as plush suspension setups. These bikes won't be as fuel-efficient as the V-Strom, but the drop isn't going to be too drastic either. Take a test ride of these bikes before you make a decision.

I’m a long-time Autocar fan and a 5’10” rider planning to replace my 2015 Royal Enfield Thunderbird 350 with a more practical maxi-scooter for daily commuting and errands. My main priorities are comfort and fuel efficiency. I am currently considering the Yamaha Aerox 155 and the Hero Xoom 160. Which one would you recommend? Also, would it be worth waiting for the Yamaha Nmax 155, or is there a better alternative I should consider?

In our experience, neither the Yamaha Aerox 155 nor the Hero Xoom 160 have proven to be comfortable, especially over broken roads. Instead of these two, we'd recommend you give a long, hard look at the TVS Ntorq 150. On paper, it might seem like a step down compared to the Yamaha and Hero with its 12-inch wheels and air-cooled engine, but in reality, it is the better product. With plush suspension, a spacious underseat storage and peppy performance, the bigger Ntorq makes for a compelling sporty scooter that doesn't sacrifice practicality. In our routine tests, we also found that - when ridden gently - it can be surprisingly fuel efficient. Do take a test ride of the Ntorq 150 to see if it resonates with you.
