Hi, I currently ride a 2019 Bajaj Avenger 220 Street and I really enjoy cruiser-style, laid-back riding. I’m considering upgrading to a new bike-TVS Ronin, Royal Enfield Meteor 350, Jawa Perak, or the Classic/Bullet 350. Budget is not a concern. My usage is mostly city riding with occasional highway trips. Please advise.

Between the options you've shortlisted, we'd advise choosing between the TVS Ronin and the Royal Enfield Classic / Bullet 350 for their laidback yet neutral riding positions and thumpy, torquey engines, as well as comfortable suspension setups.

You should also look at the Honda CB350 models, as they have a similar feel and look to the Royal Enfield bikes, but have a more modern and lighter riding experience.

I am planning to buy a bike by the end of this year for a daily 25-40 km commute in Hyderabad. I’m currently considering the Honda CB350RS, Royal Enfield Meteor 350, and the upcoming Triumph Bonneville 350. Which one would you recommend, and are there any other bikes I should check out? The Honda CB350 models and Royal Enfield Hunter / Bullet / Classic 350 should be on your radar for the sort of usage you're going to put the machine through. The Meteor's feet-forward seating position places more load on your tailbone and also transfers the shock from road imperfections directly to your spine which is why we wouldn't recommend it for a long daily commute. The CB350s and the three RE 350s listed above have more natural, upright seating positions which will make them more suited to your usage. The Hondas are lighter on their feet than the RE Bullet and Classic and feel more manageable inside tight city traffic. The REs claw back some ground with their characterful and torquey J-series motor. Picking between them will boil down to what sort of experience you prefer and a test ride should help you determine which is the right one for you.

Hello Autocar team, I am from Pune, and my father is looking for a bike for his daily office commute of around 50km (25km one way). His requirements are a comfortable seating position, decent fuel efficiency, good after-sales service and long-term reliability, and a low seat height, as he is 5 ft 5 in tall. He was initially considering the TVS Ronin base variant, but after reading about some after-sales issues, he is looking at other options as well. Since we already have a Hunter 350, he is considering the Royal Enfield Meteor 350 and Honda CB350RS. However, he is confused between the two, as the Meteor 350 is around 10kg heavier than the Hunter 350, while the CB350RS has a taller seat height. Could you please suggest which would be the better choice considering his usage and requirements? He is also considering an EV scooter, so suggestions for suitable options in that category would be helpful as well.

While the Royal Enfield Meteor 350's low seat height is surely welcoming, owing to its feet-forward riding position, you will feel more of the road imperfections you encounter. We'd recommend you instead look at the Bullet / Classic from RE's stable, as these bikes have more upright, natural riding triangles which will be useful over the long daily commute your father faces. The Honda CB350s offer a similar riding experience but are lighter and easier to manage. Given that your daily commute is quite long and likely to involve bad patches too, a motorcycle would be the more comfortable alternative to a scooter. However, if you must have an electric scooter, choose from proven options like the TVS iQube, Bajaj Chetak, Ather Rizta / Konarc and Vida VX2.

I’m 38 years old and 5'6" tall. I’ve been riding a Honda Shine 125 for about a decade and now want to upgrade to a bigger bike. I really like the Triumph Speed 400, but I’ve heard that its maintenance costs can be high. I’m also considering the Bajaj Dominar 400, Pulsar NS200, and Royal Enfield Classic 350. Please help me choose the right bike based on my requirements. I’m also open to other suggestions. I plan to keep the bike for at least 8 years, so long-term reliability and maintenance costs are important to me.

Since you are going to keep your next purchase for a long time and are coming from a Shine, we'd advise you to consider with the Royal Enfield Classic 350. The Classic is a simple, fuss-free motorcycle which should be easy and inexpensive to maintain. This Royal Enfield bike will also offer you a step up in terms of comfort, features and road presence from your Shine although, expectedly, its fuel efficiency will be lower owing to its larger engine. If you want something sportier, then consider the KTM 250 Duke. The quarter-litre Duke has approachable yet exciting performance and will allow you to grow into it as time passes. This KTM bike has great handling, cool tech like a colour TFT display and bidirectional quickshifter and its zingy engine can also be rather fuel efficient with sensible riding. These are two starkly different machines and depending on your preferences, pick between them. A test ride of both should help you decide which one is right for you.

Go for the Skoda Kushaq 1.5 TSI. Since your usage is mostly highway runs on weekends and you are specifically looking for power, comfort, performance, suspension, handling, stability and an overall good driving experience, the Skoda Kushaq is the better fit. The 1.5 TSI engine is strong and punchy, and the car feels genuinely engaging to drive, with good high-speed stability and a well-sorted suspension setup. It is also a slightly more compact SUV, which makes it easier to live with as a first car.The Kia Seltos 1.5 turbo is also a very good car and feels more premium inside, but it is a larger SUV, and the driving experience is not as sharp or as involving as the Skoda Kushaq. Since this is your first car and your priorities are clearly performance and driving enjoyment, the Kushaq 1.5 TSI is the more satisfying choice.

My shortlisted options include TVS iQube ST, Yamaha EC-06, and River Indie. Which would be the best choice considering real-world range, reliability, comfort, and long-term ownership?

We'd advise you to choose between the TVS iQube and River Indie because both are trustworthy, practical and comfortable EVs. While both will feel quite adept at tackling city roads, on the highway, the Indie will offer better stability owing to its larger 14-in wheels and fatter tyres. There's not much wrong with the Yamaha EC-06 (unsurprisingly, since it is effectively a dressed-up and pricier River Indie) but it costs quite a bit more than the River. You also have a substantially smaller boot and a very slow 450W charger on the Yamaha, both of which will make their presence felt in day-to-day scenarios. Take a test ride of the iQube and Indie and depending on which one you like more, make your decision.

Hi, I have been riding TVS Jupiter since 2017 and my usage is around 20 km but now, when I took it for service, I came to know that the chassis of the bike has rusted and there are cracks in it. Since I am unable to find a spare, I want to change it. Should I go for electric or petrol scooter? If I choose the electric scooter, will the rusting problem still persist in the chassis.
