JK Tyre Racing Championship 2016 concludes at the BIC

After winning both races on Day 1, Round 4, and adding 20 points to his kitty, Anindith Reddy had become the clear leader on the score board, with a total of 96 points. It’s worth pointing out that back in Round 2, Reddy had managed to gather just five points. However, he made a strong come-back in round 3 at the Kari Speedway (Coimbatore) and never looked back since. 

Trailing nine points behind Reddy were Anant Shanmugam and Nayan Chatterjee. While Anant bagged second position in Race 1, Nayan managed to grab podium finishes in both races 1 and 2 – spots three and two respectively.

Day 2

For the reverse-gridded EuroJK 16 Race 3, the leaders of race 2 – Anindith, after starting at position 6, spared no time making his way to the top spot by lap 3. He was followed by Akhil Rabindra and Krishnaraj Mahadik. While the final positions did not change from this, Akhil Rabindra gave Reddy a proper run for his victory. 
 

In lap 5, Nayan Chatterjee, who’s had a decent run this season, had to pull into the pits because of faulty tyres. He did resume his race, however to no avail, as the 10 lap race left little room to play catch-up. 
 

Race 4 should have been a cut-and-dry one, but turned out to be rather exciting. Race-leader Anindith stalled at the start due to a disengaged clutch, and consequently, slipped back a good four positions. 

Also, Dhruv Mohite’s car number 5 failed to run due to an oil-leakage, which spilled onto the finishing straight. This resulted in laps 2 and 3 behind the Audi R8 V10 plus safety car, so that the oil-spill could be cleared. The two laps also proved disadvantageous to Akhil Rabindra, who had gathered a considerable lead over the rest of the pack. However, that was good news for Reddy, who had clambered up to position 3 by the second lap.
