Tally leader Ameya Walavalkar further cemented his position in the VW Polo-R Cup 2012 standings after claiming a win and a third place finish at round five of the series.
Earlier on Saturday, Avdumber Hede had clinched pole position for race one on Sunday, outpacing Walavalkar by just over a tenth of a second. But come race one, Walavalkar managed a phenomenal getaway and didn't look back while Hede struggled to get off the line.
The latter finished over 10 second down the road from Walavalkar, with Saurav Bandyopadhay rounding off the podium.
The reverse grid race saw F-BMW driver Akhil Khushlani on pole position, with reigning champion Vishnu Prasad, another guest driver, alongside on row two.
Expectedly, Khushlani went on to complete a dominant pole to flag win but was handed a 20-second penalty for a jump start. This promoted second placed Rahil Noorani to the top spot while Ameya Walavalkar once again managed a fiesty drive from eighth and ultimately finished second to complete another strong haul of points for the weekend while Vishnu Prasad rounded off the podium.
