I am planning to buy a car (first time) with the budget around 15 lakhs, my monthly drive would be 500-600 KM. I am looking for good reliable, long ownership with minimal maintenance. Preferablly Toyota, Honda or Maruthi. Confusing to choose the segments between sub compact top end or compact mid end models, like brezza/nexon top end or creta/hyryder/seltos/victoris mid end. Please suggest

I want to buy my first car within a budget of around Rs. 15 lakh. My annual driving would be below 10,000 km. I am looking for a reliable, low-maintenance car with good long-term ownership prospects. I am confused between choosing a top-end sub-compact SUV like the Maruti Brezza or Tata Nexon, or a mid-size SUV like the Hyundai Creta, Kia Seltos, or Toyota Hyryder in their mid variants. Please suggest which would be the better choice.

Go for the Maruti Suzuki Brezza ZXi+ petrol automatic. With under 10,000 km a year, petrol is the right choice, and the Brezza is one of the most reliable and low-maintenance cars in the segment. This Maruti Suzuki car is also a genuinely comfortable 5-seater with a wide rear bench, good ride quality and a simple, proven naturally aspirated engine paired with a smooth 6-speed torque converter automatic. The ZXi+ variant is well equipped, so you are not compromising on features, and Maruti’s service network and ownership experience are among the best in the country. The Tata Nexon is also a strong option, but the Brezza’s naturally aspirated engine is better suited to long-term ownership and low-maintenance requirements. If you need the space and don't mind compromising on features, the Kia Seltos HTE (O) IVT is a good choice. It is actually well equipped for a lower-end trim and offers a roomier, more border cabin than the Brezza. Overall, the Brezza ZXi+ gives you a complete package without compromise, and that is the right approach for a first-time buyer looking for long-term ownership.

Hi everyone, We currently own a Chevrolet Sail Sedan Diesel and are planning to upgrade. I'm having a tough time deciding between buying another diesel SUV or switching to an EV. Our usage pattern is quite different from most buyers. We drive around 50 km per week, almost entirely within the city. Highway trips are very rare, maybe once or twice a year. Because of this, I feel an EV makes more sense, and I absolutely love the smooth and quiet driving experience that electric cars offer. At the moment, I'm considering the Tata Nexon EV, Kia Syros EV (newly launched), and the Hyundai Creta Electric, especially the new BaaS option in the base variant. I'm leaning slightly towards Kia/Hyundai because they seem to have a better reputation for battery management, software, overall reliability, and after-sales service compared to Tata. If I decide to stay with diesel, the base model Kia Seltos Diesel would probably be my choice. However, I'm quite concerned about modern diesel systems, particularly DPF regeneration and DEF/AdBlue-related issues. Since our driving is mostly short city trips with very little highway usage, I'm worried that a diesel may not be the right fit in the long run. Given our usage pattern, what would you recommend: Kia Seltos Diesel, Tata Nexon EV, Kia Syros EV, or Hyundai Creta Electric? I'd especially appreciate feedback from owners who have experience with these cars in predominantly city driving. Thanks in advance!

Between the Nexon EV, Syros EV and Creta Electric, the Nexon EV is the most affordable option. But we'd strongly recommend the Syros EV - it is a very sensible choice. It is priced well, has a good feature set, and cabin space is excellent. Kia's battery management, software and service network inspire more confidence for long-term ownership. Overall, the Syros EV is the more balanced package, and even though the Creta Electric is a good car, the Syros EV comes across as better value for money.

I currently drive a Hyundai i10 CNG, with a monthly running of around 400 km, and am now planning to upgrade my car with an on-road budget of around ₹15 lakh. My running could increase to nearly 1,000 km per month in the future if my work location changes. My key priorities are: Good suspension and ride comfort Good fuel efficiency in heavy city traffic Low maintenance costs Comfortable seats for daily usage A feature like ventilated seats would be nice to have, but it is not essential. I am currently considering the Maruti Brezza, Tata Nexon, Kia Seltos, Tata Sierra, and even upcoming ICE/CNG/EV options. I am also open to considering a used car that is up to 3 years old if it offers better value.

You should consider the Maruti Suzuki Brezza CNG, ideally the mid variant. It fits your brief because it gives very good mileage in stop-go traffic, and if your running rises to 1,000 km a month, the lower fuel cost helps even more. The suspension deals well with rough city roads, the seats are supportive for long hours, and Maruti’s service is easy and usually light on the wallet.Know the trade-offs: The CNG is only available with a manual, and it will feel underpowered on hills or with a full load. The CNG tank also eats into boot space. If you want an automatic for traffic, pick the Tata Punch CNG AMT automatic instead; you’ll lose some mileage, and it's a smaller car, but it will be more convenient to drive.
