Should safety rating a major consideration for buying a car? I drive a 5 star rated car and I feel safe knowing the car I drive is sturdy and well built. Is it really safe or 5 star rating keeps my mind at peace. I feel it is not emphasized enough. Let's take Creta for example. It is the single most dominant mid size SUVs for a decade now but safety is not there as compared to seltos, Victoris, Elevate, Kushaq or Taigun. Creta still dominates. I understand it is going through a major facelift next year but why wait a decade and still do not have a 5 star rating, not even 4. Low safety rating is then but never tested is not an option. Shouldnt it be made mandatory? What are your thoughts? Thanks in advance.

I'm a Female, 5'1", small built, currently drive a Venue (Turbo) automatic, and a Wagon R. I'm looking for a mid size Petrol SUV, 1.5 L turbo, automatic for highway drives, safety (gncap) being my first priority (will retain venue for city driving). Some days I tend to drive 4-5 hrs without a break on Highways. 20-21L on road is my budget. ADAS 2, ambient lighting, illuminated buttons, hill assist, a great music system and seat and seatbelt height adjustments are a must too apart from all other features that I've got in my Venue. (My amazing Venue has never failed me, even in steep hilly terrains of HP and Uttarakhand or dry, scorching highways of Haryana, UP, 200-250 km nonstop with absolutely no engine heating, and that's what I expect from my new car too- never get me stranded ever; ) Love Harrier, hate tata dealerships; love xuv 7xo, hate Mahindra; Love Victoris, hate its rear styling; At present I'm left with Taigun, Seltos and Creta. Is there any SUV that fits my requirements? Thank you. Hello Autocar family, I am planning to buy a new car for me and my grandfather. I already have a Hyundai Santro at home, so this will be my second car. The mandatory requirements are a panoramic sunroof, a 360-degree camera, and decent mileage. My daily commute is around 30 km, including 20 km on the highway and 10 km in the city. The cars we are considering are the Kia Seltos GTX A, Mahindra XUV 7XO AX7T, Maruti Suzuki Victoris ZXI Plus (O), Hyundai Creta N Line, and Tata Sierra Adventure. I am also open to considering the Volkswagen Taigun and Skoda Kushaq. We are both confused and haven't been able to agree on one option. Please help us out, guys!
