Tata Vista VX Tech vs rivals-variant and feature comparison

The new Tata Vista Tech is priced at Rs 6.19 lakh (ex-showroom, Mumbai)

Tata has just launched a new Vista variant that comes loaded with a lot more features. The top Vista VX Tech is available only with a diesel engine. We have compared it with the top diesel variants of the popular Hyundai Grand i10 (Asta) and the Maruti Swift (ZDi) to find out how it stacks up.

The Vista VX Tech gets a 6.5" touchscreen multimedia system with CD and DVD compatibility along with aux-in and Bluetooth. It even gets a GPS navigation system. It also gets illuminated steering wheel-mounted controls along with a driver information system which shows instantaneous and average fuel economy and displays a digital clock too. The Vista Vtech is powered by a 1.3-litre Quadrajet diesel engine which develops 74bhp of power and 19.3kgm of torque. It has a price tag of Rs 6.19 lakh (ex-showroom Mumbai).

The top Hyundai Grand i10 Asta variant is priced at Rs 6.73 lakh (ex-showroom Mumbai). The interiors get a leather-wrapped steering wheel along with audio and Bluetooth controls mounted on it. It gets a 2-DIN integrated radio, CD and MP3 player along with four speakers. It also offers aux-in and USB ports with a 1GB internal memory. The Asta variant gets height adjustable driver’s seat, adjustable rear seat headrests, push button start/stop, tilt steering, rear AC vents, rear washer and wiper, electrically folding and electrically adjustable outside mirror along with rear power outlet.

On the safety front, the Grand i10 Asta gets an engine immobiliser, central locking, reverse parking sensors, rear defogger along with inside rear view mirror. The driver and front passenger side airbags along with ABS are an optional extra. On the exterior, it gets alloy wheels and a rear spoiler which aren’t offered on other lower variants. It gets power from a 1120cc, three-cylinder, 12-valve diesel engine that produces a peak power of 70bhp and a peak torque of 16.3kgm. It comes mated to a five-speed transmission.

The Maruti Swift ZDi sports a price tag of Rs 7.28 lakh (ex-showroom Mumbai). It gets dual airbags for the driver and passenger, ABS, EBD along with a brake assist system as standard. It also gets electronically adjustable OVRMs. The multi-information display shows the instantaneous and average fuel consumption information. It gets a four speaker audio system with radio and CD player. It comes with two integrated front tweeters, aux-in and USB ports and steering-mounted, illuminated audio controls. It is powered by a 1248cc, four-cylinder, 16-valve diesel engine which produces a maximum power of 74bhp and a maximum torque of 19.3kgm.

Although the Vista VX Tech offers some first-in-class features, the Grand i10 Asta has a comparatively longer features list. The Vista VX Tech, however, undercuts the Swift ZDi and the Grand i10 Asta in terms of pricing. At Rs 6.19 lakh, the Vista VX Tech does seem like a strong value-for-money hatchback proposition.
