Mahindra Scorpio Intelli-Hybrid launched

Mahindra has introduced its new ‘Intelli-Hybrid’ mild hybrid system on the Scorpio. The new system is available on all manual gearbox equipped variants using the 2.2-litre mHawk diesel engine. The Scorpio Intelli-Hybrid is priced at Rs 12.84 lakh (ex-showroom, Navi Mumbai) for the top S10 2WD variant.

We had earlier broken the news that Mahindra was set to introduce a new mild hybrid system on the Scorpio. The new system functions in a similar manner to Maruti’s SHVS mild-hybrid technology with the system providing electrical assistance while accelerating, brake-energy regeneration and start-stop technology. Mahindra claims the new system will improve the SUV’s fuel economy by seven percent.

The base S2 trim misses out on the new technology with the variant equipped with the older 2.5-litre diesel motor. This variant will continue to offer the automaker’s Micro-Hybrid start-stop technology. Additionally, the 1.99-litre diesel engine also misses out the new hybrid technology.
