Renault India has announced that it will launch the new Renault Lodgy in India on April 9, 2015. The Lodgy is set to take on Toyota's Innova, and will be powered by a 1.5-litre K9K diesel unit. The engine is available in two states of tune - the 84bhp variant with a five-speed manual gearbox and the more powerful 108.5bhp variant, mated to a six-speed gearbox.

The Lodgy measures 4,498mm long, 1,751mm wide and 1,682mm tall. It also gets a massive 2,810mm wheelbase. Cosmetically, it has some subtle design elements like the contours on the wheel arches which add form to the sides, and a dash of chrome on the doors; while the cabin of the MPV borrows a lot of elements from the Duster.

Initially, according to dealers, Renault will only launch the top-end Lodgy in India. The top-specced MPV gets a touchscreen unit with sat-nav, Bluetooth connectivity, USB and aux-in, a rear-view camera and rear parking sensors, dual front airbags, and ABS with EBD.

The Lodgy is expected to be priced in the range of Rs 9-13 lakh (estimated, ex-showroom, Delhi). Renault dealers have already started accepting bookings for the MPV at an amount of Rs 50,000.
