Renault will soon add a more powerful 1.0-litre variant of its bestselling model, the Kwid. The Kwid 1.0 will be launched on August 22, 2016. Currently powered by an 800cc engine, the carmaker had many asking for a more powerful version. The Kwid 1.0 was earlier showcased at the Auto Expo 2016. Renault had also showcased the Kwid 1.0 with an AMT gearbox, but sources tell us that this model has been planned for a later stage.

Dealers have started accepting bookings for the car and are promising deliveries by October. In terms of power, the Kwid 1.0 with the manual gearbox will deliver close to 65hp

The 1.0-litre Kwid will be sold alongside the 800cc variant, and will rival the likes of the Maruti Alto K10, the Hyundai Eon 1.0 and the recently launched Tata Tiago petrol.
